What a productive afternoon Year 3 had on Tuesday 9th July. They had designed their own towels, so they then began the process of making them. They had to put a hem in the material and then cut shapes from felt to create a towel that was personal to them. They discovered that sewing is really tricky but everyone persevered. They are looking forward to finishing them next week.
On Friday 5th July, Year 3 were looking at a perplexed picture. The image triggered a discussion about global warming. As a class we discussed what caused global warming, what impact it had and what we could do as individuals to reduce the rate of it. Miss McKeown was impressed with the level of responses and the maturity around the discussion. We then went on to answering questions about the image and some people started a story about the Lighthouse Town.

On Friday 5th July Year 3 continued to develop their language of reasoning. Following on from Mr Richardson’s curriculum session we completed arithmetic on Summaze and Summaze 2, concentrating on addition and subtraction. We found it challenging but we were proud when we were able to complete the different levels. The peer support was fantastic and communication between one another was lovely to hear!

On Friday 21st June Year 3 had the pleasure of working with Mrs Smith for Music Day. They started the day reading the poem The Sound Collector by Roger McGough. We identified short and long sounds. Children discussed how our bodies could be used as instruments to perform the poem. After that, we listened to the Wimbledon 2017 introduction. This links to our Summer Topic. We had to create a sequence, perform instruments and create symbols. We had to evaluate our performances and identify how the instruments can be changed to fit different parts of the sequence. We had a wonderful day!
Alfie enjoying his godmothers wedding in Ireland this weekend!
On Wednesday 19th June, our year 3 and 4 gymnastic teams competed at Temple Park against other schools, having lots of fun and showing off their amazing learning. They also had the chance to test their skills on a gymnastics obstacle course, trampoline and also a leotard creation task, which Erin in year 3 was able to win a medal for! Well done everyone!
