For our Tuesday worship at the moment reception are focusing on building links with the church. We have started this by creating a stained glass window craft to decorate the church, we really hope you like them!

This morning Reception were set an arty worship challenge by Mrs B, we watched a video introducing St Oswald, we then drew a portrait of him ensuring we depicted him as a king. We had some fabulous detailed drawings, great job! 

On Friday, Year 2 joined our lovely Reception children to engage in an action packed day to celebrate Aspirations Day.

This afternoon, reception have been continuing our learning of On the Beach, by focusing on water safety! We have been discussing why it is important to stay safe in and around water, spotting dangers within water and what we can do to stay safe! 

What a fantastic way to kick off receptions new topic of On the Beach! The children visited Whitburn beach and explored rock pools with John from Durham Wildlife Trust. This was an amazing way to start our learning and the children LOVED it! We also has some well deserved park fun and lunch outside. What a gorgeous day we had! 



Reception loved being pirates for the morning. They started by playing a game ‘Captain’s orders ‘ game before heading into Forest school to follow clues, using their phonic knowledge to hunt for treasure. After finding the treasure, they had to navigate their way back to their pirate ship, and finished their adventure by bravely walking the plank!
Reception have started our new RE unit of special places this afternoon, Mrs Chalder asked us to discuss this with our parents and share a photo of us in our special places. We have discussed where makes us feel safe and happy, who we visit places with and what it feels like when we are there. Well done reception, a great start to our new learning 

This morning, reception and Y6 buddied up for our summer prayer space! This was focused on The Holy Trinity. Well done superstars, you worked so gorgeously together, Mrs Chalder and Mr Appleby were so impressed 
Wow what morning reception have had focused on all things Creep Crawl Wriggle! The children had a fantastic experience with Paul from Discovery Zoo, who told us all about different creepy crawlies and let us handle them if we were feeling brave! Well done superstars what a great way to finish our learning
