Year 5 had a fabulous time visiting Hebburn Comprehensive for a transition morning! We had a woodwork lesson with Mr Wilson who showed us how to make our very own key rings! We also sampled some music and science lessons too, displaying exemplary behaviour throughout. Well done Year 5!
What a brilliant day full of team spirit Year 5 had participating in the Quad Athletics event at Monkton Stadium last week. We participated in different athletic events across the day, including long jump and a 75m sprint, with some brilliant results!
Year 5 had a brilliant day last week for Aspirations Day, completing lots of different workshops centered around a variety of careers, including finance workshops, an outdoor session on green careers and a STEM activities workshop!
Year 5 have continued with their computing unit on databases. We looked at different computer databases, thinking about how we can navigate around the information, using different fields to answer different questions. We also thought about the importance of a database being secure to keep information confidential.
As part of our computing unit, Year 5 thought about what a database was. We created our own records, and put them together to form a paper database, thinking about the ways in which we could sort and order the information.
Year 5 put their oracy skills into practice today as part of their English unit on persuasive arguments. We looked at how we could participate in a whole class debate, taking into account points both for and against to ensure a balanced argument.
Year 5 collated all of their music learning yesterday and completed their composition gold task. We showed our composition knowledge by composing and performing our own ternary piece of music.
Year 5 loved taking part in Prayer Space Day with Year 1! We focused on three tasks linked to the Holy Trinity. Thanks Mr Richardson for organising such a lovely activity for us all!
Today, Year 5 became historians for the morning! As part of our English unit on balanced arguments, we are looking at who is the most significant Ancient Greek figure.
Before we could do this, we needed to conduct historical research to find out more about famous Athenians and how they have impacted the world today. We looked at Socrates and Plato, using information texts and internet research to find out as much as we could to present a balanced argument.
