Year 5 had a jam packed afternoon of science last week, looking into homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures. We looked at the different methods we could use to separate a variety of mixtures and made predictions about what we thought would happen.
For worship this week, we thought about how and why we should renew our minds for positive mental health. As a challenge, we had to think an out renewing negative thoughts in to positive thoughts. This was a tricky challenge set by Mr Richardson but we all handled this with maturity and compassion.
Year 5 enjoyed toast Tuesday today! As part of mental health awareness week, we enjoyed our toast while completing some mindfulness tasks to help us think about how to encourage good mental health throughout our day.

Year 5 had their Healthy Mind sessions with Lily today, focusing on unhelpful thoughts, and how we can change these into more positive ones. We looked at what scenarios can generate negative thoughts, and how this can have a negative impact on us. We then finished our session with some mindfulness colouring.

As part of our composition unit in music, Year 5 have been looking at identifying C major and A minor chords correctly.

In RE, Year 5 have been looking at Islam. We discussed the 99 names for Allah, so we could understand their meaning, before having a try at writing some of these names in Arabic.
In Y5 we are thinking an our relationships and strengthening them. In football we have been playing collaboratively and thinking about the role of a referee.
This week we looked at the question “What does peace be with you meaning to you?”. We were set the challenge of different ways to finding peace.
