This morning, Y2 visited Marine Park for South Tyneside School’s Orienteering festival.
This week in computing, Y2 have been collecting data and represented our findings using pictograms. We asked our friends their favourite fruits and mini beasts. Once we had our pictograms we answered questions to compare data.
On Friday, Year 2 joined our lovely Reception children to engage in an action packed day to celebrate Aspirations Day.
We had the opportunity to learn about different careers, develop new skills and explore future possibilities. During each session, the children were engaged and eager to participate. They also had plenty of opportunities to ask questions, helping them gain a deeper understanding of the different roles. It was an inspiring day that encouraged the children to think about their own aspirations for the future.
On Friday, year 1 and some of our friends from year 2 joined up for Aspirations day. For worship we were so lucky to have musician and singer James Berry with us. He raised the roof with his singing and set us up perfectly for a brilliant day.
The children participated in a range of workshops including manual and skilled trades, music and digital production, green careers, budgeting and finance, public health and showcasing your skillset.
Over the course of the day the children used their amazing Oracy skills to ask questions, talk about their aspirations for the future and what skills/qualities they will need.
As part of our Art topic, Portraits and Poses, Year 2 sketched their own portraits of their partners. We brought an item which represented us to include in the portrait. We then used
our computing skills and used Paintz app to create our portraits using technology.
This week in worship, Miss Randle set us the challenge ‘how are we the church’. We each filled in a church template explaining how we attend with family/friends, how it’s a place of peace to connect with God and a place of praise and celebration.
For worship, Y2 are connecting with our new starters, thinking about friendship and fellowship! In worship today, we made pictures for each new starter. Mrs Urwin and Miss Randle will give each child a picture following their visit this week and next. We cannot wait for our new friends to start! 
On Friday, Y2 started their new topic in PE. This half term we will be thinking about and playing team games. We started off with a game of treasure island. We then added the skills of basketball dribbling, showing control of dribbling while trying to steal the treasure! We thought an out what skills were important for team games.
This week in worship we have been thinking about the Holy Spirit linked to friendship and fellowship. As our challenge, Year 2 had to discuss what they could see, what they noticed and what they wondered about an image linked to the Holy Trinity.
Year 2 loved today’s worship… toast Tuesday! We got to connect with others and think about our mental health whilst eating toast!
