In year 2, this week, we have been flexibly partitioning numbers. We have used base 10 to partition numbers as big as 100!
For International Day of Democracy, Y2 wrote manifestos all about why they should represent their year group and used their oracy skills to present them to the class. Following this, Y2 used the British value of democracy to fairly vote for 2 class councillors.
Last week in PE Y2 watched some Paralympic swimming. We loved it so much that we ended up raising the roof of the classroom whilst cheering for England… England won!
Today, Y2 began their new PE topic… dance!
We started our lesson by thinking back to Y1 and discussing dances ‘through the eras’ and iconic moves. After that, we showed Miss Topping our funky moves and what we have to offer!
Year 1 had a great time in our St Oz Olympics this morning. The weather certainly didn’t dampen our mood as we cheered on our friends as we joined in a range of games! Thank you so much Miss Marley for all your hard work, you’re a star!
Year 1 have had a brilliant time at fit for fun! Children enjoyed a range of activities, including tennis, football, kick rounders, rugby and dance! We learnt lots of new skills, tried out different tactics and most important, had FUN!
Year One have had a fabulous afternoon in Forest School. They did some litter picking, shelter building, bug hunting and ended the afternoon with a campfire, toasting marshmallows. Mrs Wells and Mrs O’Doherty were so impressed with how sensible and knowledgeable the children were, well done superstars!
Year 1’s focus in Maths, this morning, was, ‘How can I recognise a quarter of a quantity?’ The children used concrete resources to support their learning, it was fantastic to hear everyone using their problem solving skills, Mr Richardson will be very impressed!
Year 1 ended their art topic, Street View, with a special exhibition of their work. They created a collaborative piece of artwork in the style of the artist, James Rizzi. Isn’t it amazing?
