This week we looked at the question “What does peace be with you meaning to you?”. We were set the challenge of different ways to finding peace.

As part of our science unit, Year 5 have investigated reaction times. We had several age ranges take part in our test to measure their reaction time, and then looked to see what patterns we could establish, and which range had the speediest time!
As part of our Sow Grow and Farm topic, Year 5 have loved using our geographical skills to work out how far our food has travelled!

Year 5 have been continuing with the PE unit, gymnastics, focusing on rolls and jumps, and how we can put these together in a sequence.
Year 5 completed their computing unit around programming this week. We concluded our learning by programming our crumbles to operate a motor to turn our carousel, whilst also lighting up a sparkle. We were all very successful in being able to programme multiple components!
Year 5 have had an incredible day at the beach for our latest art topic, Natures Art. We investigated materials, explored what we could do with them, and then used these to create our gold piece of art in the afternoon. The children were fantastic ambassadors for the school, and worked so well across the day!
Year 5 have been putting together their programming learning to construct a carousel that they can programme to turn using a switch and a motor. They made their designs, and began to bring these to life before designing an algorithm next week.
Year 5 started their new PE unit, gymnastics, this week. We looked at what rolls, balances and jumps we could remember from Year 4, then completed different stations to try to perfect some gymnastics jumps and leaps.
Year 5 started their new computing unit around programming this week. We looked at how we could programme our crumbles to create different light sequences with a sparkle! Year 5 were computer whizzes, and used their sticky knowledge of electrical circuits and conductors from Year 4 to help them.
