Y6 raised £50 for Cancer Connections with their water run today. Thanks so much to all who got soaked for the cause!
Y6 loved their Lego Spike day! They built structures using Lego before using their coding skills to bring what they’ve built to life. Great stuff, Y6!
Y6 completed first aid training today led by the British Red Cross. They learned vital skills that could one day help them save someone’s life. Well done, Y6!
Year 6 were invited to spend the morning at Cleadon Academy, this week, to visit their Careers Fayre.
We spent the morning chatting with lots of different people, from baristas to pharmacists to directors! Some of us even got a chance to meet Sunderland player Luke O’Nein and practice our ball skills!
Big thanks to Cleadon Academy for having us and making us so welcome!
Y5&6 absolutely LOVED their maths-based escape room experience delivered by Subject Revolution. They solved problems in teams to crack the codes and defeat the enemy. Thank you to Subject Revolution – such fun for our children at a price far cheaper than it would normally cost for an escape room experience!
Y6 loved their final visit to Jarrow Library. We were read to, before spending time to quietly read for pleasure. Many of the class chose books linked to Britain at War, with others selecting football books to celebrate the launch of Euro 2024. The children reflected on their reading progress this year, with many recognising that they’ve now got a greater love for reading than before thanks to finding the right books to read.
Well done, Y6!
Y6 enjoyed their leavers’ service at Durham Cathedral. They completed prayer space activities before taking part in the service, focusing on moving on from primary school. A great start to the transition activities for our Y6s!
Year 5 and 6 attended Monkton Stadium to compete in an athletics competition. The events were 75m sprint, 600m run, howler throw and standing long jump – the children showed off their skills and determination throughout the day!
For this weeks worship challenge, after looking at Martin Luther King, Year 6 were challenged with creating their own speech about something they were passionate about. We listened to Martin Luther King’s speech to inspire us, and then as a class we looked at things that mattered to us, and that we felt strongly about.
