Year 3 have had an amazing time on their trip to The Great North Museum, learning all about the Egyptians! They were fantastic detectives, using their history skills to observe artefacts in order to work out what they would have been used for and who they might have belonged to. There were some tricky ones to work out but with lots of teamwork and good listening skills they solved all the clues.
The children in Year 3 took their digital literacy skills to the next level by thinking about the comments they leave for others on their online learning journals using Seesaw. On the back of Anti-Bullying Week and a World Kindness Day, we discussed not only the importance of staying safe online, but how to foster a healthy and positive relationship with social media. We started by sharing our posts on Seesaw, leaving our friends positive comments and then discussing how they made us feel afterwards.

Tech savvy Year 3 children enriched their learning last week by bringing their writing to life, using green screen technology. Standing in front of the virtual pyramids in Cairo, Egypt the children presented their own ‘how to’ guide to mummifying a Pharaoh. They can’t wait to see where their writing takes them next!

Sizzling suggestions for sausage competition!
Year 3 chefs come up with some ‘banging’ ideas for the ‘invent a sausage’ competition.
Hoping to make their fellow school diners smile, they set to work to prepare a champion sausage with ingredients to savour. We had the ‘Sunday Sizzler’ based on a roast dinner and a ‘Nicey Spicy’ with the key flavours coming from chilli, cumin and chorizo! Not happy with confining their ideas to paper, they then presented their own winning sausages to the class using Seesaw!

Year 3 Keep Fit in a Mental Health Workout
On Friday we celebrated World Mental Health Awareness Day. Dressed in yellow, we embarked upon a journey to help us understand our own mental health and how it affects how we feel, think and act. Celebrating our own self worth and acknowledging our feelings, helped us to recognise that we are never alone, and that others can be experiencing the same thoughts and anxieties. We learned that a healthy lifestyle doesn’t just help us physically, but also mentally!

Art and Craft Club made Autumn Dreamcatchers. Don’t they look 👀 great!!
Getting to grips with coding!
Year 3 have been using flowcharts to write their own code this week. They explored different commands, tested a variety of inputs before evaluating the most efficient code. Excellent effort all round, well done!

These three boys have done amazing in their karate tradings.
Oliver has graduated to his Purple belt in Phase 2 in the Kids Karate
Layton graduated to his Brown belt in Phase 2 in the Kids Karate ( not too far away from his black belt)
Rory graduated to Yellow with black stripe in the mini dragons
Great day for all three boys!
