Eleanors elf, Buddy, came back today. I wonder what things he’ll get up to this year??
As part of our Computing STEM project, Year 5 have linked our work to our topic research. Using a range of skills, we initially researched Saxon villages and then used computer programmes to create our own thinking about land use and the demands of Saxon society. We finally evaluated the effectiveness of our own work as well as the suitability of the programmes we used.
Year 5 had a great Children in Need day on Friday, here’s what they got up to!
In Year 5 we researched the different regions of Japan and created a range of resources linked to these using our independent researching skills; some of us created factfiles, some compared it to our locality while others created persuasive advertisements to get people to visit our region. We also considered if our sources of information were reliable. We listened to traditional Japanese music too!
An update on our chicks. All 4 eggs hatched on Saturday 2 May and the chicks are really thriving. We feel so lucky to be able to watch this in our own back garden ️
Just a little update on how Harry and Zoe have been getting on. They have been missing their friends, but also enjoying working on the school projects. They have both made a ‘Great Fire of London’ model where their favourite part was making the oobleck river. Blue food colouring does not come out easily by the way!
And we all congratulate you on your new non hair style, for a very good cause.

Hi guys! Mr Hayton here. As I’m missing you all so much I thought I’d let you know what we have been up to. During our daily outdoor exercises we have walked all around North Tyneside – by the river, along the sea, and in trees! We had a strange picnic in Steve (the van) but obviously we didn’t go anywhere! We’ve been working out with Wicksy every morning and looking out for signs of spring (summer birds arriving like swallows and chiffchaffs singing, butterflies and looking out for bats at bedtime!).
From my house I’ve spotted foxes, hedgehogs, buzzards and sparrowhawks aaaaaaand my yard wall is finally painted! I hope this finds you all well and safe and I can’t wait to see you again!

Phoebe has really got stuck in to home schooling after the Easter break…she has been completing math sessions on The Maths Factor working on her 7, 8 & 12 times tables & has answered 306 correctly & is on day 3 of a 30 day challenge. She’s also been completing the daily lesson plans on BBC bitesize and is really enjoying the material. For Earth Day she made some animal & leaf moulds out of salt clay. She enjoyed watching Mr Hayton’s music lesson too
Reading Plus Challenge
Calling all Key Stage 2 pupils, the challenge is on! We have decided to launch a reading challenge and see who can read for a minimum of 15 minutes each day for a full school week (Monday-Friday) on Reading Plus. Week 1 of the challenge starts today, with teachers keeping an eye on who manages to keep the challenge going and results being announced at the end of every week. Remember, Reading Plus provides you with a wide range of text types to read and enjoy along with targeted comprehension questions to help up skill your understanding. Enjoy!
A lovely blackbird has made a nest in Eleanor’s play house and today we found 2 eggs! We’ve left some food and water out for her and can’t wait to see the chicks
