In their Gold Task in Art, Year 3 have sculpted an ammonite using clay and clay tools. We then took photographs on Seesaw in different lightning and from different angles. Here are some of the ammonites we have sculpted.

Year 3 looked at the Ring of Fire in Geography yesterday! They then worked in pairs to separate statements about the Ring of Fire into true or false.

In Spanish, Year 3 focused on learning their numbers 21-30 in Spanish. We then had to listen to a number in English and rewrite the numbers in Spanish.

To link with Year Three’s Geography- Rocks, Relics and Rumbles. We looked at a Mover and Shaker ‘Mary Anning’. Year 3 used their sticky knowledge from Year 2 to recall facts of what they had learned previously. We looked at what Mary Anning was famous for and what types of fossils she discovered and what others could learn from our Mover and Shaker.
In Art, Year 3 created a motif by drawing onto a piece of polystyrene to make an indent. They then rolled some printing ink onto it and created a print by pressing down into thier art books. We then evaluated each other’s motifs by giving 2 stars and a wish. Well done Year 3!

In worship this week, Year 3 looked at how Jesus was a visionary. We looked at the Bible verse Matthew 5:3-12 (The Sermon On The Mount) and discussed how The Beatitudes links with our vision, ethos and values statement.

Year 3 conducted a science experiment on friction and recorded the results. We used force metres to measure each shoe to see which surface had the smallest and greatest frictional force.

In PE this week, Year 3 practiced our next skill in gymnastics. We practiced different balances and trying to hold them for ten seconds. We then worked in pairs to perform a balance and the rest of class had to decide if it was a symmetrical balance or a supported balance.

For our oracy challenge last week, we were challenged to work on our pronunciation. We performed a poem for our peers focusing on how we were pronouncing each word.
Last week, Year 3 had a RHSE day to think about how the lives of children differ across the world. We discussed ways and which other people lives are similar and different to ours by creating a Venn diagram about two children named Chiwa and Kwende, who lived in Malawi. We then thought about ‘Is it fair’ for Chiwa not to go to school because her mother needed help at home and that she would not have a school eduction. We also discussed how we could make the world a fairer place and what we could do to help. We then imagined that we travelled to Malawi to visit Chiwa and wrote a postcard to Mrs Smith to write about what we could see and hear in the village. Well done Year 3!
