In Art this week, Year 3 looked at what a motif is and started to draw them. Last week, we looked at how we can use drawing techniques to create detail. This week, we noticed that motifs are very basic repeating patterns based on natural resources. We also looked at Fibonacci, who is one of our movers and shakers, and how his spirals linked to ammonites and naturally occurring patterns.

Year 3 had a fantastic morning learning and practicing new skills at Temple Park Multi skills Festival! ⚽️
This week in Picture News, Year 3 looked at whether or not YouTube should have more rules for younger users. We discussed what we like to watch online, whether it made us happy and the things we have watched either have a positive or negative impact on us.
This week, Year 3 looked at rolls in gymnastics. We focused on teddy bear rolls to prefect our techniques.

Year 3 worked in pairs using rulers and metre sticks to accurately measure different objects within our classroom. We then converted them into different measurements!

In Computing today, Year 3 used sequences to program 3 different sprites to complete 3 different actions using Scratch. This is part of our Sequencing Sounds, Teach Computing unit.

In Computing, Year 3 have looked at adding three different Sprites and programmed them to follow actions. We made the frog move 10 steps, made the penguin turn clockwise and for the dog turn anti-clockwise.
In Maths, Year 3 measured the length of different objects and converted them from centimetres to metres. We then measured more objects in class and converted length in millimetres to centimetres centimetre and millimetres.
Year 3 enjoyed using tuned and untuned percussion in their music lesson today. They were given a stimuli picture and told to improvise a composition around the picture and how it made them feel. Their compositions varied in tempo and in dynamics depending on how it made the, feel!
In Art, Year 3 used different drawing techniques such as cross hatching, stippling, shading and hatching to draw ammonites.
