Year 4 continued with their science topic yesterday, and this week we looked at the different particles of solids, liquids and gases. To help us visualise this, we worked in groups to position ourselves correctly to represent each of the states.

In RE, Year 4 looked at the Last Supper. We used a Conscience Alley strategy, where one member of the class was picked to play the role of Judas, with one line of the class suggesting why he should betray Jesus, and one line of the class suggesting why Jesus should not. Year 4 came up with some very compelling arguments and gave our class Judas a lot to think about!

Year 4 had a brilliant time participating in the athletics tournament at Temple Park today! We competed in a range of athletics events, including the relay, javelin and long jump. Well done on your fab sportsmanship Year 4!

Year 4 have been looking at notation this week in music. We listened to an audio clip on a thunderstorm as our stimulus, identifying different sounds and where he volume and pitch changed. We then created our own symbols to represent the sounds. After, we moved on to produce a dot notation for a familiar song, Twinkle Twinkle.
Year 4 had a great afternoon being landscape artists! We firstly looked at some pieces of landscape artwork and discussed colour, texture, line and what we liked about them. We then practiced some techniques to create ‘atmospheric perspective’ to create a foreground, middle ground and background!

Year 4 loved their first swimming session today! We had so much fun in the pool practicing front crawl ♀️! Miss Marley can’t wait to see our confidence and swimming ability grow over this term
Year 2 began their music learning for the half term with a COOL task all about composing alongside a stimulus. They were given a piece of art showcasing a stormy sea and were asked to compose a piece of music to it in small groups. We are loving all of the links to our new topic of Coastlines!

Year 4 have spent their afternoon exploring coding as part of their computing unit. Using Turtle Academy, we followed the basic commands to make our turtle move in different directions. We then followed through the steps to turn, combine commands and create shortcuts. We LOVED this, and can’t wait for our next computing lesson already!

Following on from our Forest School session, Year 4 have been exploring states of matter further. We looked at lots of different materials to determine whether they were a solid, liquid or gas. However, some were harder to categorise than others…shaving foam and toothpaste caused quite a class debate!
