This week in swimming, Year 4 focused on back crawl. We absolutely loved mastering this stroke in the pool, great work Year 4.

To coincide with our learning in our geography topic, Misty Mountain, Winding River, Year 4 have been challenged with writing a diary entry about a journey on a river in English. To give us some inspiration, we decided to embark on our own river journey with a trip on the ferry! We talked about what we could see, hear and smell to help inspire our writing, as well as thinking about our knowledge around our geography topic, spotting the river features we recognised.

Year 4 had an extra special music lesson today…we had Mrs Smith all the way from Spain teaching us! As part of our learning around composition, we looked at how we could follow rhythms using a range of different notes. We then used these notes to compose our bars of music.

As part of their RE unit, Year 4 thought about what a memory box for a Christian remembering the life of Jesus would look like. We thought about what we would put inside and why, and then we discussed if Christians would need a memory box to remember Jesus, or what else they could do to remember him.
Year 4 had a fab morning for this half terms trip to the library. The lovely librarian Catherine had sourced so many books on our geography topic on rivers and mountains for us to explore and take back to school. As always, we loved our story, and then spent some time back at school using our new books to read for pleasure!

Year 4 spent their Forest School session this week continuing their work on states of matter as part of their science topic. Mr B carried out a range of experiments with us, looking at what factors could affect ice melting, the difference in temperatures, and how quickly it would take water to boil. We worked scientifically to make predictions and observations, and then record our findings.

Year 4 loved this weeks oracy challenge around pronunciation. We looked at the importance of pronouncing our words correctly, and really thought about how we use our mouths when speaking. We worked in groups looking at our class poem and then, using our physical oracy skills we performed it to the class.

Year 4 have started to look at dividing two digit numbers and dividing with remainders in our current maths unit. We have been looking at different methods to help us with this, with some of us finding the concrete resources the best way to help us visualise this.
