Northumbria Police, Tyne and Wear Fire & Rescue and The NHS were just some of the many employers that Year 1 met today at our annual Aspirations Day. The children asked the different employers about their jobs and got hands on with tools, resources and the uniforms provided by our visitors. After visiting the sleep scientist, one child said, “I didn’t know a bedroom could be a science lab too!”
Zachary has had a great half term!
He attended the ‘Ninja Warrior’ course (with cuts and bruises to show for it!🤣), practised his golf and attended his Hebburn Town Juniors Football Club presentation.
Lahna’s has an action-packed holidays. We’ve seen dippy the dinosaur and spotted the School’s butterfly at the Great North Museum, fun at Flamingoland, extra riding lesson and horse grooming, visited Beamish to say hello to Pilot the shire horse, go back to school and go down the drift mine and finished off with the fun day at Hebburn football club.
Codi, Kayden & Ivy had great fun at round the twist & then at Toby Carvery.
Year 1 have been busy researching, designing and making their own Tudor style houses during our topic lessons on the Great Fire of London. We now have our very own Pudding Lane assembled in the classroom…for now!
Year 1 had a special visitor this week, Lahna’s Mam. Lynsey is a journalist at the Evening Chronicle and Journal and she came to help us write our own newspaper reports. We found out what skills a journalist needs, how a newspaper is actually made and looked at some really old newspaper articles and Mrs Wells’ was even in one of them! She then helped us to write our own headlines and she was very impressed with our ideas.

Miss McKeown and Mrs Robins have been enjoying meeting their new class! During their transition morning Y1 have been thinking about Jewish beliefs in God. Children have been looking at the Shabbat and the significance of this prayer. We have also discussed similarities between Judaism and Christianity. Miss McKeown has been blown away by children’s transition into Y2 and their level of independence.
Hi Mrs Smith I just wanted to say a massive thank you for giving Grace the opportunity to learn to ride her bike properly after school. She has come on brilliant and now riding her bike without the use of her stabilisers and she is over the moon and she said she is now a big girl bless her.
I’m absolutely bursting with pride right now over what she has achieved after 4 lessons thanks again!
Here are some photos of Kenzie’s recent holiday. He went to the zoo, water sea life park, Caravy beach and Costa Del water park. It looks like the family had lots of fun!!
