On Monday, professional football freestyler Al Johnson returns to St Oswald’s! He will be showing us his skills and talking about how he’s had to develop a growth mindset through his faith in God to get to where he is today. Each class will then have a football skills workshop with Al, so children can wear their school tracksuits for the day. Children who do not have a school tracksuit can bring trainers that they can change into for their workshop.

A massive well done to Isla and her family! The family took part in the Memory Walk (7km) along South Shields coast yesterday.
Isla’s granny has Dementia. This was a big deal for the family, as you can imagine, especially Isla – as she is very close to her Granny, so we are extra proud of her for doing this. So far the family have raised £310 from this walk for the Alzheimer’s Society.
A true mark of Christian love

We were so privileged on Tuesday 26th September 2017 to have a range of visitors to our Lifesavers sessions and financial understanding money morning. The visitors were The Lord Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear, representatives from Virgin Money and also our partners from Lifesavers. During the morning, our children looked at saving for something special, budgets, where money comes from and how to make their money grow. The visitors were very impressed with what they saw and could see how we are making our children ready for life in Modern Day Britain.
If your child would like to join our savings club why not get them to come along on a Tuesday morning at 8:45am and we can get them an account. They can save from as little as 10p per week but this is a super opportunity for them to watch their money grow and to save for something special. Also watch out for our parents saving club coming soon.

Re: School Development Priorities 2017
Apologies regarding the change of date for the School Development Plan parents meeting. This is now scheduled for Wednesday 27th September at 5pm and all parents/carers are welcome to attend . It will last no longer than 45 minutes.
The purpose of the meeting is to make you aware of what the school development priorities are for the coming academic year and hopefully get you involved in the school’s continuous journey of improvement.
There will be a brief overview of what the current climate of the school is and then a chance to hear of our plans for the coming academic year.
This will be followed by a questions and answer session about our plans.
If there are any individual questions you have, which are not linked to the school development priorities, please make an appointment with your child’s class teacher in the first instance.

We are immensely proud of our children who have taken part in the Junior Great North Run at the weekend. They ran a mile and loved sharing their medals and certificates with us in Praise and Celebration Worship this morning.
What a brilliant time some of our little ones (and bigger ones) have had in just dance after school club tonight!!

A huge well done to Louisa (our super duper cook) for all of her hard work in cooking such fabulous meals for our children.
She really deserves a customer excellence award for her work in St Oswald’s in South Tyneside!

Dear Parents and Carers,
I know that we are all devastated to hear that Bradley Lowery has lost his fight against his illness. It really makes you just want to cuddle your little ones a bit tighter and be so thankful for what you have. Whether you are NUFC fan or SAFC fan, this is a chance for us to show our support.
It’s Bradley’s funeral on Friday and his parents have asked anyone who attends the funeral to wear a football top. Bradley’s parents have asked school’s to get …involved in order to raise money for his charity and some parents have brought this to my attention!
Children may come in to school on Friday wearing any football top. However, please DON’T go out and buy a new one. If your child doesn’t have a football top, then any t-shirt would be fine. Children can wear a whole football strip or whatever they wish on the bottom. We ask that children bring a £1 donation which will go to Bradley’s charity.
If are parents and carers are joining us for worship on Friday they may also wish to wear a football top to show their support.
