What an honour and a privilege it was to attend Becca and Stacey’s confirmation this morning!! Well done ladies!! Thank you so much for the invite and for all you do for the church!! You’ve really been instrumental in saving the church! Don’t they look gorgeous!! Also Teddy got baptised! What a fabulous uplifting morning!

Year 4 have had a great day at Sunderland Museum linked to their geography and science learning. We spent the morning looking at the River Wear, learning all about its history and how the river has been used over the years. After that, we participated in a workshop all about water, thinking about the water cycle and all of the different elements.

Year One have had a fabulous afternoon learning all about the mover and shaker, Sir Christopher Wren. They were able to link this to their topic, Bright Lights, Big City and discovered that he was very influential in the rebuilding of the capital after the great fire. As well as learning lots of facts about his life, significance and the impact he has had, they also became architects themselves and had a go a drawing St Paul’s Cathedral just like he would have done back in 1666.

Last week Tony Clark (Anya and AJ’s dad) got the Headteacher’s star of the week certificate for his amazing knowledge of the Vikings and sharing this with Year Four during their COOL afternoon. Here he is proudly showing off his certificate which is now proudly on show on the family fridge!
A huge thank you to Lucy (our child of achievement) and her family for representing St Oswald’s at the remembrance church service and for laying the St Oswald’s wreath at the war memorial in Hebburn yesterday! Thank you Lucy.
Our lovely Miss Pape became Mrs Sharrock over the Summer holidays in an amazing setting in Sorrento.
Doesn’t she look absolutely beautiful!!
All of us at St Oswald’s would like to wish Mr and Mrs Sharrock all of the love 💕 in the world for their married life!
It was great to see how busy St Oswald’s was this morning with our children in their transition sessions connecting with their new teachers. It is clear to see how ready our children are for the move to their next classes in September. Well done to our fabulous staff and amazing children!
What a privilege it was for me to attend Hebburn Helps and see our gorgeous Sophia from Bede Burn and handsome Callum from St Oswald’s and their mams receive their MBE awards for their voluntary services to aid the community. Both Sophia and Callum for years have given up their school holidays to support at Hebburn Helps and ensure those who need support in the community are fed. Their work was also recognised during the pandemic. They are real courageous advocates and I am so so proud to be their headteacher! Thanks Callum and Sophia.
Love Mrs Smith

We had a full house of digital leaders at our recent lunchtime meeting, keen to road test some brand new ‘tech’. We have purchased 60 iPads to support the children’s learning across the curriculum, with a full class set being shared between Reception and KS1 and a set for KS2. Today, the digital leaders tested out some new apps and considered how they could be used in class.
If you’re interested in becoming a Digital Leader next year, please see Mrs Conway in Year 1.
