Following a discussion with Cllr Adam Ellison (chair of governors) we have agreed that due to the adverse weather warnings for tomorrow the safest option is to shut the school again tomorrow. Apologies if this causes any problems but our main priority is keeping everyone safe!! Thanks again for your understanding!
Please can you email Mrs Smith any photos of your snow day indicating if you are happy for these to be shared on the website, app, Facebook and Twitter. Thanks
SCHOOL CLOSED TODAY – Unfortunately due the adverse weather conditions we have no option but to close the school today! There will be no-one available on site however if you have any questions or queries please email either Mrs Smith, Miss Pape or Mr Richardson. We apologise for any inconvenience caused but safety must be our first priority above all else. We will let you do everything we can to try to have school open tomorrow but will keep you informed.
There is no capacity to look after children after school today during parent appointments due to all rooms being used for after school clubs. Thanks
Visit the Year 1 display in the hall. There’s lots of advice and QR codes to scan to find out tips on how to stay safe online. #SID2018
On Tuesday, the whole school experienced a “Prayer Space” for the second time this year. The children visited seven different stations that helped them to quietly reflect in creative ways of their choice. There was lots of excitement and interest from reception in particular, who got to see the church looking very different for the very first time!
The children who had 100% attendance in Autumn term across Y2-Y6 had a fabulous time bowling today! We went to the bowling alley at the Dunes, where everyone supported each other along and really enjoyed the experience. It’s safe to say the staff enjoyed themselves too, especially Mr Hawkins!
It’s NSPCC Number Day on Friday! Children can come to school in non-uniform that displays a number on it (or perhaps a full maths-related outfit for those feeling creative!). We are asking for a £1 donation and all proceeds will go to the NSPCC.
Mr Richardson
The homework trip in KS2 was a fantastic day out for all of the pupils and staff involved. An action packed morning at Pirates Cove was a great way to celebrate all of their hard work at home over the last term.
St Oswald’s CE VA Primary School in Hebburn have had an exciting morning in the unveiling of their newly revamped Wrap Around Care Provision – Ozzie Owls. School have kept a separate budget for the provision and spent almost £10,000 providing new flooring, furniture, décor, computing equipment and kitchen. The provision will have a huge impact on the children who access the provision both before and after school due to parents and carers work commitments.
The provision was opened by Councillor Adam Ellison (Chair of Governors) and both the children and parents/carers were invited to share breakfast in the provision including sausage and bacon rolls.
The Ozzie Owls provision will not only benefit the children who access Wrap Around Care but also the rest of the school community where it will be used as an intervention room, a base to further develop the children’s skills in cookery and also a community provision where weekly coffee mornings are held on a Friday.
