On Tuesday 24th November 2020 Year 2 learnt all about Scratch! Mrs Wood challenged us to think, plan, create and evaluate our own Scratch animation. This was part of our STEM computing challenge. We had a very busy and creative day! Miss McKeown, Mrs Wood and Mrs Pennock were all blown away with the independence and engagement in our learning!
The Y6 Chicken Club are growing in confidence every week at handling and caring for our resident hens. They take the responsibility of looking after the animals very seriously and, of course, enjoy the occasional cuddle!
Year 3 have had lots of fun combining their survival, Mathematical and Topic learning about the Stone Age in Forest School this afternoon. We were given the task of creating a ladder that may have been used to reach higher caves in the Stone Age, all the while considering where the parallel and perpendicular lines are.
As part of our learning “How do Christians prepare for Christmas?“ some children in Year 2 created their own advent wreath in RE. As a class we discussed the significance of an advent wreath and what each candle represented. Miss McKeown and Mrs Pennock were impressed with how independent and creative the children were as well as the discussions that children were having in class.
On Monday 23rd November Year 6 enjoyed a lovely afternoon exploring colour theory. We learned about the colour wheel and discussed how we could mix primary colours to form secondary colours. We even went a step further and had a go at mixing tertiary colours!
Reception have been very busy today starting their new topic of The Nativity story! We had lots of learning based around the story this afternoon to get to know all of the people/characters. We made masks, role played with figures, used puppet characters and read the story together!
As part of our Computing STEM project, Year 5 have linked our work to our topic research. Using a range of skills, we initially researched Saxon villages and then used computer programmes to create our own thinking about land use and the demands of Saxon society. We finally evaluated the effectiveness of our own work as well as the suitability of the programmes we used.
During REFlection time Year 3 have been thinking about their emotions and feelings using Blob Images to help them make sense of how they feel. They have linked this with Anti Bullying week too to describe how the actions of others can make us feel and how we can feel many different emotions throughout the day and even at the same time.
During worship, Year 1 discussed if you were being bullied, you needed to tell an adult. On each finger we wrote the name of the person who we can ask for help. We spoke about ways to cheer someone up if they were being bullied.
This week’s theme in Ozzie Owls has been Anti-Bullying. We have had many discussions around ways we can all be a kind friend and to how spread the love!
