Reception are having a great week doing lots of learning outdoors! We have done this for phonics and maths. In maths we have been playing games and keeping score with a tally! In phonics we have been sorting captions, pictures and initial sounds. Well done reception ️⭐️
Year 1 loved some outdoor English today in the nature garden, it looks like they have had so much fun!
Year 3 have had a fabulous afternoon of Forest School! Our learning today was science based and all about soil. We got our hands nice and dirty by pulling it to pieces and looking at its composition. After we had investigated this and thought about the things that soil is useful for, we put on our gardening gloves and planted some wild flowers too.

This morning, Mr Hayton and Miss Topping took some children from Year 4 into the nature garden to complete some maths. We were focussing on learning what a right angle is. Here are some examples of our work and pictures of us working out the number of right angles in a full turn!
On Tuesday 16th March Year 6 used our outdoor learning time to deepen our understanding of shape and geometry. We used sticks to make rectilinear shapes then we used webbing to explore properties of different polygons. Mrs B and Mr Hayton were very impressed with the problem solving and team work displayed by the class!
Linked to our Science topic and Hopes and Happiness theme, Year 2 planted their own sunflower seeds in the nature garden. We collected our own compost, planted the seed and watered them. We can’t wait to see if they grow!
Year 2 are reading the BFG and will be writing their own character descriptions. Today we read extracts of the story and used evidence from the text to justify our inferences about the different characters in the story. We used menti.com to generate our ideas.
Reception have been having a fantastic time learning all about our butterflies and tadpoles. This week we have started to explore life cycles! We have also looked at the story of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and have had a brilliant afternoon of learning focussed around this story. We also named our caterpillars. Please ask us which names we have chosen, as they have been making Miss Marley and Miss Riley chuckle! ️
