Today for World Book Day, Year 3 listened to the story ‘The Pebble in my Pocket.’ We filmed a diary entry of ourselves as the pebble and transported ourselves through time from 480 million years ago to present day. Across the day, we looked at how the ‘The Pebble in my Pocket’ linked to our Rocks, Relics and Rumbles topic and looked at the key features of a diary such as using first person and using time adverbials.
Yesterday, KS2 Lego Club had a fantastic time taking part in the Lego League Challenge Competition! We worked on our coding skills, on our motorised robot and presented our innovate project to a range of judges. It was all about creating a marine app to support marine biologists and their research! We were super lucky and won a trophy for our amazing innovative research!

This week, Year 3 started their orienteering unit in PE. We focused on map orientation to turn the map so we could follow the plan. We then added the numbers to find out the answer.

We had a brilliant day yesterday making automaton toys in DT with our geography mover and shaker, David Attenborough being the theme of the toy! Year 3 worked very well as a team and followed instructions. Mrs Sharrock, Mr Appleby and Mrs Urwin loved coming to see our fantastic work!



Today, Year 3 visited the library to change our books. Catherine read us 2 stories and we managed to have some independent reading time too. We loved it so much we have already booked in our next library trip!

This week, Year 3 have looked at are Mover and Shaker David Attenborough. We discovered who David Attenborough is, his family life and all about his career and achievements. We looked at how David has helped people to understand the world better and how we should care for it.

In Science today, Year 3 learned about the magnetic field and did an observation with iron fillings and magnets.

For our Cool task in DT, Year 3 were asked to create a moving object. They were asked to make the man’s legs move with the equipment that they were given.
Today in Spanish, Year 3 wrote the day, the date and the month in Spanish.

Year 3 had a brilliant morning singing the song ‘Every Move I Make’ for their peers in ‘Praise through music’ . We have spent this half term practicing it and we were so excited performing it for everyone!
