In PE this week, Year 3 had a great time following a plan and a map key to create a replica with equipment to create some funny faces in orienteering.

Year 3 spent our computing lessons looking into and creating branching databases based on the different attributes of dinosaurs! We looked at different yes or no questions and separated the dinosaurs into groups accordingly.

Year 3 spent part of our afternoon looking at our DT mover and shaker, Christopher Wren. We looked at his famous buildings, researched about his life and even put ourselves into the shoes of an architect and created lists of things that architects have to consider when designing their projects!

For Oracy, Year 3 were challenged to uplevel their vocabulary using synonyms. In English we looked at Lowry’s painting ‘The Promenade’. We wrote a description uplevelling our vocabulary into our books and shared them with the rest of the class.

As part of International Day of Maths, Year 3 looked at Fibonacci, our maths mover and shaker, and his sequence. We used our disciplinary knowledge to decipher the rules of different sequences and then created our own rules and sequences!

Year 3 had a fabulous afternoon further exploring volcanoes as part of their geography topic. We created our own volcano models, thinking about all of the features we have learned about and making sure these were incorporated into our designs. After, we looked at how we could recreate a pyroclastic flow to replicate that of a volcano. Using baking soda, vinegar and washing up liquid, we watched the acids and alkali react with the carbon dioxide to create a chemical reaction! Well done Year 3!!!

In English, Year 3 have been looking at using commas for clarity. We were given stem sentences and we add some clarifying information using commas!

For oracy, Year 3 played the word association game linked to are KRP, Rocks, Relics and Rumbles. We remembered all the skills we have learned and used them while playing during early work. Well done Year 3!

Today in PE, Year 3 used compasses to decide which direction we needed to go to get to a different toy. We then wrote which direction each toy was placed.

On Friday, Year 3 put up their posters that they created on Character Education Day, that are around the theme of ‘trust’. We TRUST our community to pick up after their dogs!
