Reception enjoyed being outdoors in the sunshine ☀️ They searched under logs, lifting stones and digging in the soil in search of bugs. They eventually found spiders, centipedes, ants and worms

During the warm up session they moved around the garden area, stopping to hold their favourite balance pose. They performed a number of jumps, which included : star jump, tuck jump and pencil jump.

Reception thought about Christian festivals celebrated during Easter. We decorated a cross to make links to signs of spring.

Reception explored artwork by the famous artist.

Reception had the absolute pleasure of travelling to Low Barns Farm, in Hexham, today! What a day we had… There was something very special about this farm – it’s a working farm, so we were very excited to become farmers for the day!
Across the day, in addition to keeping their eyes peeled for all the signs of spring, they stayed busy helping around the farm. Not only did we feed the lambs, we also groomed the horses, fed the guinea fowl & hens, collected eggs & met the farmyard cats!
We had lots of sleepy children (and staff) on our return and it’s no wonder, it’s a very tiring job being a farmer, don’t you know?!
Reception began their new PE unit today ‘ ‘Gymnastics.’

As part of their ready steady grow topic, reception exploring printing. They used a variety of fruit and vegetables to print and make their own prints. Children explored using different colour. We talked about the different fruits and vegetables and the textures.
