Reception were lucky enough to have a visit from the school nurses this morning. We discussed the importance of hand washing and brushing our teeth. We listened to stories and sang some songs. We also looked at how quickly germs spread.

Reception have been practising their writing and letter formation in phonics. Children have been spelling and writing CVC words independently.
The rain and wind didn’t stop our Reception children from building dens on Thursday. As part of designing and building shelters project. We all enjoyed working with our friends to share ideas, select suitable materials and then build a den.
Last week, reception had another busy week in Maths! Blue and yellow group have been looking at repeated patterns. First, we copied repeated patterns and identified errors. We then created our own repeated patterns.
Reception have had an amazing time visiting Newcastle Central Station on the metro. We were very lucky to go onto the platform to see the trains up close and meet the train driver.
In maths, reception have been learning about patterns and identifying them. We will then be learning about repeated patterns.
This week reception created their own lion mask for their worship challenge!
It’s been another busy day for our reception children today! We have been working on our new letter ‘k’, thinking about capacity in maths (and getting our floor VERY wet), and ‘Find Teddy’ using our map skills to follow a map around school. Wow – a tiring day indeed!
We have learnt a new sound today ‘g’. We used water to paint over chalk to help with our letter formation. We then recognised previous letters and were introduced to some CVC words.
Some of our boys and girls got stuck straight into our provision yesterday. They built and compared the heights of towers they built and then compared capacity by filling buckets with dinosaurs! Some of us applied our learning from last week and sorted dinosaurs by size. We are excited to see how our maths learning progresses this week.
