Reception have had another busy week, last week! We have continued our phonics and letter formation. Using different sensory experiences to practice. In maths we continued learning about sorting, matching and comparing. Children have applied their knowledge and understanding in lots of practical ways. And finally we had a visit from Mr Richardson to talk about Harvest and the Harvest festival.

Another super busy morning in Reception! Today in Guided Reading we applied our knowledge of phonics and formed the s using spaghetti!
WOW! What a super Monday we have had in Reception class!
Yesterday was a day of firsts. We started our morning with phonics and learning our new sounds. Some of us then started to form the s using chalks and paint. After play time we started our new maths topic ‘Sort, match, compare’. We matched everyday objects and explained why they were the same and why they were different.
Then in the afternoon we went on our first trip. We walked around the local area as part of our COOL task for our topic Let’s Explore! We were super sensible, listened to our adults and stayed safe. We did lots of walking so there might be some tired legs tonight!

Reception started the morning this morning, completing 1 mile running around our school yard – WOW! In total, we ran 16 laps and loved every minute! At the end, we had some very tired and very thirsty children!
Today, our reception children visited our school library for the first time! We shared some books together, talked about how we behave in the library AND started to learn how to find and put away the books we use! Our reception children are very excited to take home their first library book next week…
WOW! What an amazing start to Reception we have had! The children have settled in amazingly to their new classroom and school. We are getting familiar with our different areas and the routines of the classroom.
