Reception have had an amazing time visiting Newcastle Central Station on the metro. We were very lucky to go onto the platform to see the trains up close and meet the train driver.
In maths, reception have been learning about patterns and identifying them. We will then be learning about repeated patterns.
This week reception created their own lion mask for their worship challenge!
It’s been another busy day for our reception children today! We have been working on our new letter ‘k’, thinking about capacity in maths (and getting our floor VERY wet), and ‘Find Teddy’ using our map skills to follow a map around school. Wow – a tiring day indeed!
We have learnt a new sound today ‘g’. We used water to paint over chalk to help with our letter formation. We then recognised previous letters and were introduced to some CVC words.
Some of our boys and girls got stuck straight into our provision yesterday. They built and compared the heights of towers they built and then compared capacity by filling buckets with dinosaurs! Some of us applied our learning from last week and sorted dinosaurs by size. We are excited to see how our maths learning progresses this week.
Reception have had another busy week, last week! We have continued our phonics and letter formation. Using different sensory experiences to practice. In maths we continued learning about sorting, matching and comparing. Children have applied their knowledge and understanding in lots of practical ways. And finally we had a visit from Mr Richardson to talk about Harvest and the Harvest festival.
Thank you to all of our parents and carers for joining us this week! We hope you had a lovely lunch with the children. Thank you for all of the lovely feedback too!
Another super busy morning in Reception! Today in Guided Reading we applied our knowledge of phonics and formed the s using spaghetti!
