Year 5 practised their oracy skills in Spanish today! They spoke about where buildings were in their city and used pause words to help with their fluency.

Year 5 had a fab afternoon for Time to Talk day. We invited our parents and carers to taste test the soup we had produced, and then we wowed them with our presentations to promote our product! We delivered our pitches, thinking about our oracy skills, ensuring we projected our voices and spoke clearly. Our adults then evaluated our pitches, making sure we had included all of the relevant information.

And it’s cooking! Y5 sautéed the onions and spring onions before adding the other ingredients and the stock. Excited to eat the seasons!
As part of our DT topic, Eat the Seasons, Year 5 have been taste testing some seasonal produce ahead of making our final dish. We looked at beetroot, kale, rhubarb, kale and cabbage, thinking about their appearance, texture and taste. We then rated which ones were our favourites!

As part of our ongoing link with Karbon Homes and Able Construction, some of our Year 5 children took part in a community project at their Hebburn site today.

On Friday, Year 5 did music, and played ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ on the xylophone. They enjoyed learning the musical notes, presenting it to the class, and most of all, making lots of noise!
Today, Year 5 have done different types of jumps in P.E , and have practised routines to share with the class.

Today, Year 5 have looked at David Attenborough in R.E, and compared him to the 10 commitments that humanists follow. He has linked to their R.E topic about humanists because he is a humanist himself! They read his Biography, and linked him to the 10 Commitments. They had a very good discussion about which commitments he linked to. They also talked about future generations, and how they’ll be affected by our actions if we don’t try and reduce Climate Change. They also talked about how he doesn’t expect rewards for his doings, and that he is quite humble,so they got Worship in as well!

Today Year 5 looked at ‘A Farmers Life’ and at the different seasons farmers go through. They also looked at the challenges and tasks of a farmer, and finished some fantastic worksheets!

Year 5 had a great Forest School session delving deeper into our Sow, Grow and Farm topic. We started by looking at how different plants reproduce, focusing in particular on the different ways plants can reproduce on their own. We then studied potatoes, garlic, beans, ginger and celeriac to establish how they reproduced.
