On Thursday 28th November Year 2 visited OpenZone at the Word. We visited the recording studio and recorded Christmas songs using the green screen. Then we each used 2Create to produce our own animated stories. We retold the Nativity story, linked to our learning in RE. We had to choose our background, objects and characters and then decide on the animation. Next we duplicated our background, copied and pasted our characters. Staff were impressed with our independence.
On Tuesday 19th November 2019 Year 2 worked with Miss McKeown and Mr Thompson on Purple Mash. We had to sort information on a database to answer simple and more complex questions. We had to find advatars based on the questions. We discussed how to complete the searches, what a database is and understand how to answer more complex questions.
For our worship challenge this week we thought about how change starts with us. We watched the campaign video for anti-bullying week and then created our own prayers. We highlighted key vocabulary around how change can start with us.
Gabe and Lily have finished a busy half term by completing the 1.5k mini mo-run.
On Thursday 24th October Year 2 were applying their fluency of addition and subtraction to solve word problems. We solved a range of problems, including 2-step problems. We used concrete objects and pictures to represent numbers and support our learning. We started our task by identifying the language used in the problem and sorting them into addition or subtraction.
Lahna and Isla took their British Theatre Dance Association silver rose award exams on Sunday for tap and ballet. They both passed with top marks of honours star!! 🌟
On Tuesday 1st October Year 2 went into the nature garden to find and classify objects. We found different things and had to sort it into dead, alive or never lived. We used MRS GREN to help us to sort into dead or alive.

Oliver has graduated to his Purple belt in Phase 2 in the Kids Karate
Layton graduated to his Brown belt in Phase 2 in the Kids Karate ( not too far away from his black belt)
Rory graduated to Yellow with black stripe in the mini dragons

On Thursday 19th September 2019 Year 2 completed a coding challenge on Purple Mash. Children had to control air traffic and code planes and helicopters into different directions. We also created our own airports! As part of our task we had to debug some algorithms. Miss McKeown and Mrs Robins were impressed with children knowledge and understanding of coding and the vocabulary they used to support their understanding.
