Local coding franchisor named as winner in prestigious awards

Gemma Murray, whose TechyTots business in based in South Tyneside, is celebrating being named as the winner in the Women in STEM category at the North East Business Woman of the Year Awards 2018.

The North East Business Woman of the Year Awards  recognises, rewards and promotes achievement of women in business in the North East. These prestigious awards are intended to reward innovation, raise standards and  celebrate the North East’s female talent pool across all industries and all levels, from established female entrepreneurs to our regions rising stars.

WIN Awards 2018 says ‘ The categories have been particularly tough this year so this really is an amazing achievement’

TechyTots is a multi-award nominated coding program which delivers workshops in schools, nurseries and in the community. TechyTots has a unique approach to coding combining traditional play with technology to teach the fundamentals of coding from a young age.  TechyTots has gone from strength to strength in the 18 months it has been running and proved so successful it is now a national franchise.

Gemma Murray, of TechyTots says “I am absolutely delighted to have won the Women in STEM category at the North East Business Woman of the Year Awards 2018. It has been an amazing 18 months and I am so grateful for everyone’s support. I really love what I do and it’s a fantastic feeling to be recognised by winning this award.

Angie from Hebburn Helps teaches KS1 about being grateful – 21.11.18

This week we have looking at being grateful in worship!! We are so grateful to have Angie Comerford as part of our school community! She spreads gratefulness in all she does and is such a selfless person! She is a true role model to all of our children!! Thanks so much Angie and everyone else at Hebburn Helps for all you do! We at St Oswald’s are very grateful to God for all you do for us and our community! Thanks to a truly inspirational lady!

St Oswald’s win Inclusion FAB Award for South Tyneside – 12.11.18

We are so proud to announce that St Oswald’s CE VA Primary are the annual winners of the FAB awards ‘Inclusion Award’ for our Diversity Picnic and how we have worked successfully to combat bullying due to race, religion, sexual orientation, disability or transgender.  Leon, Oliver and Finley attended the awards ceremony with Mrs Smith and Mr Usher at Boldon Secondary School.  We were so excited when our school was announced as the winner! Well done to all St Oswald’s to all the children, staff, governors and parents for all of their hard work!

 

Oliver joins Mrs Smith for Hebburn Remembrance Parade – 11.11.18

Mrs Smith was so privileged to be invited by the mayor to be part of Hebburn’s Remembrance Service on Sunday 11th November 2018.  Mrs Smith asked Oliver to join her as this year’s child of achievement. They both marched in the parade and laid a wreath at the cenotaph to remember those who have sacrificed themselves for us.  It was a very proud moment for both Oliver and Mrs Smith.

Year Six Lead on our school Remembrance Service – 9.11.18

What an amazing Remembrance Service at St Oswald’s CE VA Primary ! We are so proud of Year Six who led our service and the rest of the children who were extremely reverent. Thank you to all of our parents/carers who joined us! I’m sure you’ll agree it was very moving.

 

Interested in becoming a Digital Leader???

We had a full house of digital leaders at our recent lunchtime meeting, keen to road test some brand new ‘tech’. We have purchased 60 iPads to support the children’s learning across the curriculum, with a full class set being shared between Reception and KS1 and a set for KS2. Today, the digital leaders tested out some new apps and considered how they could be used in class.

Macmillan Coffee Morning – 28.9.18

WOW!!! What an amazing morning we have had thanks to all of our amazing parents/carers/ grandparents/ friends etc!  There were loads of cakes provided by our families and we made a staggering £442.61! Year Five pupils became real entrepreneurs this morning as did Zoe in Year Six.  A special thank you to Olivia and Isla who asked for the coffee morning to be hosted in memory of their late Granddad.  You did him proud girls!

Thank you so much again for all who supported us!  Another true sign of Christianity in action!
