On Friday 21st June, KS2 Cheerleaders took part in a Cheerleading Festival at the Urban Factory with North East Cheer. This was a brilliant experience and we had the opportunity to work with cheer coaches. We had a fantastic day filled with cartwheels, jumps, lifts and dancing! The afternoon competition was so much fun and the atmosphere was incredible. We did so well and Miss Marley is extremely proud of each and every one of you, well done girls!!
The elderly courageous advocacy group feel passionate about over 75’s paying for their TV licenses which the BBC plan on bringing in. Could you please sign this petition please! We feel like this is unfair as a lot of people over 75 rely on their TV for company. We believe that they should not have to pay and it is unfair! We must stop this!

On Thursday 13th June, the ‘Crime and our Community Worship Group’ (made up of children in Y1-Y6) enjoyed an informative and interesting local area walk. Local police officers Vicky and Craig took us some local hot spots, asking us questions about how safe we feel in our community and answering our questions about local crime. Our Chair of Governors, Councillor Ellison, also joined us as we battled on in the rain, not letting the weather dampen our determination to discover more about our local area!
Today was ‘Aspiration Day’ at St. Oswald’s Primary school, where we spent a wonderful morning with some lovely people!
I had the pleasure of meeting the teachers and children to tell them about my job as an interpreter and translator!
Their knowledge of the subject is impressive and I enjoyed listening to their language learning experiences and the countries they have visited or intend to visit.
Thank you Mrs. Smith for this fantastic opportunity and great initiative. I will certainly be looking forward to doing it again.
Your team and the children are a credit to you.

Wow! What an amazing day we have all had at St Oswald’s today. The children have spent all day learning about different occupations from a wide range of visitors. This morning the children interviewed different people about their jobs including an interpreter, operations manager, police officers, firefighters, a plumber and oncologist rep to name a few. The children were so welcoming to our visitors and very polite.
This afternoon the children, with their parents, had the opportunity to visit our careers fayre in the hall and learn about other occupations from local businesses. These included a dentist, the RAF, Barclays Bank, Durham University and Pride Radio.
A HUGE thank you to all of our amazing visitors for making our day so special!
Mrs Smith has had a brilliant half term holiday. It started with another trip to Wembley with Toby and my friends. We even bumped into Mr Richardson. Sunderland didn’t win but we still all had a fabulous weekend. We then went straight from there to a lodge in Aysgarth. It was great to be right out in the countryside. It was lovely to have so many walks and get Poppy and Toby off their phones. I hope you have all had a great holiday too!!
We hosted our first whole school outdoor classroom day on Thursday 23rd of May! Look at how much fun we had with our learning!!
Everyone had a lovely lunchtime today playing with the new equipment. Some of our Year Five children volunteered to become equipment monitors and helped to organise the equipment as well as facilitate the play for some of our younger children. Look how much fun we had!
Daniel and Lucy took part in the Children’s Cancer Run mini mile yesterday with Corinne and Merryn Bell and Finley and Ollie Wilson. They were all amazing, running the whole way, giving us grown ups a run for our money!!
This week, the Crime and Our Community worship group had a special visit from two local police officers. We had a turn in the car, sounded the siren and asked them questions about how we could make a positive difference in our local area. A great time had by all!
