Year One had a great day yesterday learning ‘Love’ by Nat King Cole. We learnt to use tempo, dynamic and pitch and listened to the song ‘love is an open door’ from frozen and discussed what was similar and different between the two songs. We then performed our song to the whole school, we tried our best to sing with confidence and expression. We had such an amazing day ![]()
Year 4 have had an fantastic Love Day! We started off listening to our two songs, A Whole New World from Aladdin and Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars. We compared the stylistic features of the two and thought carefully about the story linked to each of them. It was then time to learn the lyrics and rehearse ready for our afternoon performance in the hall. Lots of hard work and perseverance went into this, we had to use call and response in our Whole New World duet and we enhanced the Bruno Mars hit, with some British Sign Language. We are so proud of their achievements and attitudes and these were shown in a stunning performance to end off an amazing day. Well done Year 4!
Year 5 have had a fantastic day rehearsing and performing their love day songs! The children have impressed Year 5 staff throughout today with their enthusiasm and superb singing voices!
On Friday Year 2 went on their first trip! We went to Temple Park to participate in the School Games Tennis Festival. We loved the different activities and practising our tennis skills.
Year 3 brought their Food and Nutrition week to a close by baking some Royal Rameses Rolls. On the tomb of the Ancient Egyptian King Rameses III was a baking scene and this was their inspiration. The smell of freshly baked bread filled the corridor and made all the passers by very hungry!

‘Here is photo of our lovely Alice with her amazing loaf she made at school. We had a sneaky slice once we got home and then decided to add croutons to our mac and cheese tea. Absolutely delicious! Alice has even instructed us to never buy bread again!’
Y6 have loved Food and Nutrition Week! We learned about WW2 rationing before planning our own 1940s “Skilly Soup”. Making and tasting the soup was the best part, then we evaluated the whole process. Watch out, Jamie Oliver!
After lots of research and planning in preparation, Year Four had a go at making Spanish Tortillas today. We picked this dish for our focus in Food and Nutrition week to tie in with our topic theme of modern Europe. Lots of skills were needed to create this meal and Year Four demonstrated their chopping, peeling, whisking and slicing skills. Once the ingredients were prepared, we cooked our tortillas and everyone helped to stir in order to cook the food evenly. Everyone had a taste of their creation – some loved it and gave it 10/10, others were not so keen, but well done to everyone for giving it a try!
