Our lovely Evelyn, in year 1, told her family all about Amanda and how she gave the class a virtual tour of the Baltic and showed the class all the sculptures. Evelyn asked to visit the Baltic this weekend and she wanted to share her photos with everyone!
‘Rainbows: the gift sent from heaven to us all.’ 🌈❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Wow what a morning year 1 have had! We had a virtual workshop with Amanda from The Baltic. She took us on a virtual tour to see all of the amazing sculptures within The Baltic. She then showed us photographs of past sculptures that have been there. We then used our bodies to recreate the sculptures. After the workshop we sketched a sculpture of our choice. We also used paper to create our own sculpture! What a fantastic morning!
Yesterday, Year 5 had some road safety sessions outside of the school. We were reminded of the green cross code and how to cross the road safely. Thank you to Kim for reminding us!
On Wednesday morning Year 2 were learning about adjectives to support their learning with character descriptions. Children had to rely on their hands as they described what was in the box. Mrs Wood was impressed with the vocabulary being developed.
For our Science we have been looking at how we can name parts of the nose. We described what our nose allows us to do. We then investigated our sense of smell by sniffing the covered pots which included BQ sauce, perfume, pickled onion juice, coffee and hot chocolate. ![]()
When learning about the Jewish festival of Sukkot, Y6 made a sukkah, bringing together our RE and DT learning. We learned that a sukkah should be an open, temporary structure and that the roof should be made of plant material. Jews believe that they should be able to see through the roof to the heavens, which reminds them that God will protect them, just the way He protected the Israelites in the desert after they had escaped slavery in Egypt. Well done, Y6!
Walk to school week!
‘Lucy and Dan walk to school most days but Monday was definitely the windiest and rainiest walk we’ve had! Tuesday was better, Lucy loves bringing her bike and Dan prefers to walk. We try to bring Mabel with us, she loves her walks to school!’
