Axel counters, driverless trains, remote technologies…….sounds like something from a sci-fi movie doesn’t it? These were just some of the amazing things the children of Year 3 found out about when they got to meet four STEM ambassadors who work in the transport industry. It was a fantastic session and certainly something the boys and girls would like to learn more about!

Ten Top Tips for beating online bullying by replacing it with kindness!
Last year, around one in five children aged 10–15 in England and Wales admitted experiencing online bullying: most commonly being insulted or sworn at, or having hurtful messages sent about them. To a child who’s being bullied, the world can seem like a bleak, negative place – but just one kind word can be a ray of hope: a turning point that brightens someone’s day and resets their perspective. That’s why we are supporting the ‘One Kind Word’ theme for Anti-Bullying Week 2021!
To support anti-bullying week, Year 3 have been working towards making their own animations. They have been studying different scenarios and debating the best way to deal with some really tricky situations. Their ideas have been put into a storyboard which is going to help them plan their animation. So the next step is….lights, camera …..ACTION. We cant wait to share them with you all.
During worship this morning Year 2 discussed the importance of being different and how our words can have an impact on other people’s feelings. We thought about this week’s theme and wrote kind words about each other on a post-it note anonymously and then gave them to each other. We had a lovely morning and will be keep our post-it notes in our toolkits to remind us how amazing we are!

Yesterday, Year 1 confidently lead the whole school in our Collective Worship. They kicked Monday off by launching Anti-bullying Week at St Oswald’s. This year’s theme is One Kind Word. Kindness is more important today than it has ever been. The isolation of the last year has underlined how little acts of consideration and charity can break down barriers and brighten the lives of the people around us. Please join us in supporting the messages shared in this video at home!
Y6 made fantastic torches, on Friday! We’ll be adding switches next week then turning these into Christmas products in weeks to come. Well done, Y6!
