On Friday 23rd of November Year 5 and 6 were visited by Danny from the charity Kidscape to continue all of our fantastic work from anti-bullying week. It was lovely to hear that we were the first school who Danny had visited that had been able to verbalise the ‘choose respect’ theme from anti-bullying week.
Some of our Year 5’s and 6’s took part in a Tag Rugby tournament, showing brilliant teamwork and skills to come runners up out of 13 teams! Our defensive skills were an extremely good asset, only conceding in the final (we played 5 games!) As always, the school was excellently represented by our sportsmanship and manners, shown throughout the morning.
Y6 had a fantastic time visiting the Victoria Tunnel. The tunnel was used by the people of Newcastle as an air raid shelter during World War Two and we explored a short stretch of the tunnel equipped with torches. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learned loads from it!
Today Y6 ventured to Hebburn Comprehensive School to take in Professor Brainstorm’s science show, and what a show it was! Liquid nitrogen was used to perform a reversible change to a balloon and transform a banana into a hammer, while the compressed air spud gun at the finale was a real hit in more ways than one. As the professor says, science is fun!

Hi St Oswald’s,
I want to share some of my photos with you from a break I had to Spain with my Mam. My Dad has been poorly and couldn’t do very much so Mam decided to take me away. We loved spending time together and I met lots of friends. Hope you have all had a great time over the 6 weeks holidays.
