Mr Usher and the family have had a quiet first week. The first thing we wanted to do was make a rainbow to show that we were thinking of everyone’s well-being at this time. We’ve also spent time doing other art projects, cookery and lots of time in the garden trying to get some fresh air. We even turned the conservatory in to a mini classroom, which Mr Usher hopes to keep tidy – maybe Mr Scrafton will see it and send him the trophy!
Whilst walking our dog Jasper, Alfie secretly counted all of the doors along our stretch of houses. He then took it upon himself to draw 24 rainbows so all of our neighbours could put in their windows to uplift their spirits. Community spirit at its best – Go Alfie!!!
Charlie has enjoyed doing art today, we have put one of his pictures in the window to cheer people up.
Finn and Ollie have had a very special weekend, they have been page boys for their godfather and godmum. They were so good all day, kind and polite. Mam and dad couldn’t have been prouder…they just hope the boys are not too tired today!
Alfie just wanted to share his travels this weekend with you all.
It was such an emotional day going to see the Knife Angel which is at The Sage. We felt so sad for the family of Samantha and all of the other families affected by knife crime, so very sad but hopefully this statue is showing people just how bad this crime really is in our country.
We then visited the HMS Northumberland Navy ship which was in North Shields for this weekend only. It was great seeing onboard, all the missiles, guns and torpedos and listening to some of the stories from the Navy’s soldiers.
Today Year 5 have been learning about Europe. We used an atlas to locate different European countries and explored their geographical features. After that we created fact files about a European country of our choice. Our favourite part of the lesson was using our knowledge to test each other by playing the post it note game! We worked in pairs and each partner chose a country for the other. Everyone had to figure out which country they were by asking a range of closed questions. It was great fun!
The KS2 children who managed 100% attendance across all of autumn term had a fab time bowling today! It got very competitive, but thankfully the children reminded the staff that it’s not the winning but the taking part that matters!! A lovely morning had by all!
Across the week beginning 6th January, Year 5 have been creating our own musical masterpiece. We were tasked with making an easily accessible and weather proof giant glockenspiel and xylophone that everyone can use. What a fantastic job they have done using their problem solving skills and team work!
Alfie has had a great time with family and friends in Turkey this last week. He enjoyed Jet Skiing and parasailing, Jeep Safari, visiting Jesus Beach and even hiring his own private boat along with his cousin Corey. We have had so much fun 😁
