A feel-good festive movie was just the ticket for Year 3 after enjoying their Christmas dinner. Santa’s Little Helpers, aka Mrs Smith, Henry, Mrs Pennock, Mrs Wright and Mr Williams showed Deliveroo how it’s done by delivering tasty popcorn and warm hot chocolate (and marshmallows) right on time! There were no complaints from Year 3 who munched, drank, laughed and danced their way through the afternoon.
Eleanors elf, Buddy, came back today. I wonder what things he’ll get up to this year??
As part of our learning “How do Christians prepare for Christmas?“ some children in Year 2 created their own advent wreath in RE. As a class we discussed the significance of an advent wreath and what each candle represented. Miss McKeown and Mrs Pennock were impressed with how independent and creative the children were as well as the discussions that children were having in class.
On Monday 23rd November Year 6 enjoyed a lovely afternoon exploring colour theory. We learned about the colour wheel and discussed how we could mix primary colours to form secondary colours. We even went a step further and had a go at mixing tertiary colours!
Our Stone Age learning took us outdoors last week, investigating prehistoric art materials and techniques. Like the early humans, we searched for natural materials and mixed them with water to make paint. After evaluating the best ones, we set off to create a large scale cave painting that included woolly mammoths, deer and some Stone Age symbols.
On Friday 6th November year 2 practiced logging on to Oxford Reading Owls. During guided reading we read with our partner. We enjoyed reading about the Gingerbread Man, Granny and the scarf! We are excited about reading at home!

I’ve received a lovely email from Mr Hayton full of love and encouragement.
So Merryn’s sent a letter of encouragement to Jellycat soft toy company to support them to make more toys for the children as they’ve helped her lots through this pandemic.
I’ve been reading quotes from a book which has been written by an author in Northumberland which I feel would really connect to the school and the children so I’ve put my name in the hat to win a copy so I can donate it to St Oswald’s and we as a family can give something back to the teachers for all the help and support you are giving the children in school.
My hope is the book will go on to help many children in the school to cope in the uncertain time’s ahead. Fingers crossed!! ( if we don’t win we would love to donate £20 to the school to buy books for the school which will help support the children in the school through this) .
