This week, Year 3 have looked at are Mover and Shaker David Attenborough. We discovered who David Attenborough is, his family life and all about his career and achievements. We looked at how David has helped people to understand the world better and how we should care for it.

Year 6 have completed their PE gold task on striking and fielding. Everyone has done so well and Mr Appleby is very proud.

For our Cool task in DT, Year 3 were asked to create a moving object. They were asked to make the man’s legs move with the equipment that they were given.
Year 4 have been looking at our art Mover and Shaker, L.S Lowry this week. We looked at some of his work, and discussed why he was so influential. We then created our own fact files on See Saw, including why he was so significant.

Year 5 had a fab afternoon for Time to Talk day. We invited our parents and carers to taste test the soup we had produced, and then we wowed them with our presentations to promote our product! We delivered our pitches, thinking about our oracy skills, ensuring we projected our voices and spoke clearly. Our adults then evaluated our pitches, making sure we had included all of the relevant information.

Do you like our beach huts? Year 2 have worked so hard over the past 2 days as teams to design, build and evaluate beach huts! We had to use our oracy skills – especially our listening – to discuss thoughts and ideas with others prior to making them. Then we had to work as a team to discuss and solve problems. Finally, we evaluated our models with our parents and carers and discussed what worked well and what we would improve if we made them again!

And it’s cooking! Y5 sautéed the onions and spring onions before adding the other ingredients and the stock. Excited to eat the seasons!
Year 3 conducted a science experiment on friction and recorded the results. We used force metres to measure each shoe to see which surface had the smallest and greatest frictional force.

Reception were lucky enough to have some special visitors today. We invited grandparents in to talk about their childhood and how life has changed. It was gorgeous to spend some time with them, looking at toys and photographs. We then sang some of our favourite nursery rhymes linked to our companion topic ‘Stories and Rhymes’. A huge THANK YOU to all of our visitors!
