Year 5 completed their STEM day where they made their own Christmas tree decoration. We thought about measurements, how to join materials and the aesthetic quality of our end products. Parents can buy these for £2 at the Christmas Fayre on Friday!

On Friday, Year 5 took some time to remind themselves about online conduct and friendships. We all revisited what makes a good friendship, how friendships can be positive and what to do if they begin to turn negative.
Following this, we thought about our behaviour online, especially in Whatsapp chats, and considered how we can be responsible and respectful citizens.
This morning Y5 completed the ‘making’ section of their Taotie motif art. We thought about creating a motif for our clay moulds and created them using cardboard. Then we made our moulds and eventually poured plaster into them to create a cast! What a busy start to the day!
St. Oz raised the roof on Friday at our annual Christingle event in church! There was such an amazing atmosphere with our Christian Council leading the way during their carefully planned service. We had Christingle candles, songs sung and some extra special instruments played. What a gorgeous start to the advent period!

Year 5 LOVED the whole school snowball fight on Friday afternoon. We had children ganging up to catch the teachers, teachers ganging up on each other – snowballs galore! We can’t wait for more Christmas fun to come!
Year 5 practiced their jumps in gymnastics today, using key vocab/sticky knowledge such as straddle, tuck and pike whilst some of our children practiced routines!
This morning, Y5 had a fantastic time at the school sport network Y5/6 athletics event. We tried super hard and displayed excellent teamwork. Well done Y5!
Year 5 had a fantastic time at the Hancock Museum where we learned all about our favourite topic, Earth & Space. We have expanded our knowledge upon the moon and discovered that it actually controls the ebb and flow of the tides! We were also lucky enough to spend some time in the planetarium, watching a film that told us all about the discoveries of space so far.
To top it all off, we even managed to squeeze in some time to look at the Fenwick’s Christmas window!
On Friday Y5 had a fantastic day at Washington Wetlands with Y4. We covered so many curriculum links such as: Geography, RHSE, Science and Forest School and learned about many different bird species, migration and the benefits of nature. We were even lucky enough to listen/watch an otter talk – what a rich experience!
