On Friday morning Year 2 loved taking part in Fit 4 Fun, it was great to have some of our parents/carers with us for the morning, it was lovely to see them joining in with us and we had an amazing active morning doing different activities with different members of staff!
On Tuesday 9th July year 2 begun their paper mache trophies with Miss Marley and Miss Booth! We had to concentrate and work as a team to hold the bottle and balloon in place, we also needed a lot of patience and peserverance to get the right trophy shape before getting messy with the PVA glue. What a messy but fun job! We can’t wait to paint them next week!
On Tuesday 9th July we had a fantastic PE lesson doing a circuit of activities such as skipping, shuttle runs, hula hooping, balancing and squats, aiming and throwing , star jumps and burpees. The children loved working in different groups and trying the different activities. We had lots of sweaty children by the end, what a great afternoon of PE!
On Tuesday 2nd July year 2 attended an OAA festival, it was absolutely fantastic! The children loved working as a team to locate the different checkpoints around Marine Park to find the materials to build the bears house! It was a brilliant afternoon of team work and problem solving.
On Thursday 20th June, year 2 had a fantastic time in the nature garden for our prayer space session.
On Wednesday the 19th of June we completed our scientific investigation to answer the question ‘what makes plants grow?’ After two weeks of growing our plants we analysed how the plants had grown. We gave some plants water, some sunlight, some water and sunlight and some nothing at all. We were trying to find out what plants need to grow healthily. Year 2 were very surprised that the plant in the cupboard grew, but they were not surprised that it didn’t look healthy since it didn’t receive any sunlight. Some of our plants did not grow at all because they weren’t given water. We made some great conclusions based on our observations. We learnt a lot from our scientific investigation!
On Wednesday 12th June in science year 2 have been learning about the life cycle of a dandelion, we have ordered the life cycle and used scientific vocabulary to describe what happens. Great job Year 2!

On Thursday 23rd May, year 2 went on a fantastic trip to the Baltic to take part in an art activity where we were able to draw the different bridges that we saw while looking out at Tyne. Year 2 also had a go at designing and making their own bridge – they did a brilliant job. We all then had our lunch and luckily saw the Millennium Bridge tilt to let a boat past underneath. Finally, we took a walk across the Millennium Bridge, under the Tyne Bridge and across the Swing Bridge. What a wonderful day to end our topic about significant local monuments!
