Reception learned lots yesterday for Safer Internet Day! We talked all about how to keep safe online and who you should talk to if you don’t like something. We then looked at different scenarios from some fairytale characters and talked about which emoji they would be feeling and what they should do! Great job Reception 

Reception have explored their mini topic of Stories and Nursery Rhymes more this afternoon. We looked at the nursery rhyme ‘Humpty Dumpty’ and had to think of ways to protect Humpty’s shell from breaking, if he fell again! We looked at lots of different materials and experimented with wrapping him up, letting him fall off the wall and then checking if his shell was broken 

This week in Reception we have been looking at some other faiths! We have been learning all about how different religions welcome people into their faith. This afternoon we looked at a ceremony from Hinduism, called Raksha Bandhan. This is where brothers and sisters tie a ribbon around their wrist and give each other gifts! We tied ribbons around each others wrists and talked about how this welcomes you into a faith  Well done Reception!

Reception have had a very different afternoon in their play today! We have explored ‘old games’ as part of our topic of Long Ago. We have played tiddlywinks, dominoes, marbles, hopscotch and skipping ropes! We thought about how some of our toys are different to these 

Reception have had a great afternoon learning lots about nursery rhymes for our mini topic of ‘Stories and Rhymes’. We sang lots of familiar songs and then looked at a song some of us had not heard of, Sing a song of sixpence! We talked about the Queen eating bread and honey…and then we made our own bread and honey sandwiches  to try! We had to use some super cutting and spreading skills 

Wow Reception have been up to so much in maths! We have been learning all about weight and capacity.  We have been seeing which items are heavier and lighter and then this week we are investigating filling different containers! 

Reception and year 1 worked together this afternoon on our worship challenge! We looked at the story of David and Goliath and thought about strength and how God might be a rock. We then made slingshots, just like in the story of David and Goliath!

Reception enjoyed their PE on Friday, doing something a little different! We were given lots of items to move and dance with, like Pom Poms and hoolahoops. We had to listen to the music and decided how we wanted to move and dance along to it
