For Safer Internet Day, Year 2 learned all about how to manage online information and how to determine whether things were ‘too good to be true’. We looked at smart speakers and considered whether they know everything and thought about how adults programme smart speakers and could potentially input scams onto them.

Do you like our beach huts? Year 2 have worked so hard over the past 2 days as teams to design, build and evaluate beach huts! We had to use our oracy skills – especially our listening – to discuss thoughts and ideas with others prior to making them. Then we had to work as a team to discuss and solve problems. Finally, we evaluated our models with our parents and carers and discussed what worked well and what we would improve if we made them again!

On Tuesday, Year 2 learned about our mover and shaker for Geography – David Attenborough – with Mrs Hope. We learned about his significance in the geographical world and his work recording animals. Then, we moved onto using some pictures of habitats and created a voice over describing what was happening, as if we were David Attenborough!

In Art, Year 2 have continued their learning about flowers and thought about the texture of them. We completed some artwork thinking about how textures can be rough and bumpy and also smooth and shiny.
Yesterday in PE, Year 2 focussed on rolling in gymnastics. We practiced each different roll thinking about the technique that was needed. We were experts at rolling by the end of the lesson!
This morning Y2 focused on their physical oracy challenge that was set Mrs Sharrock yesterday. We completed some vocal runs and practiced projecting our voices. We thought about our posture and how doing mouth exercises can help us. Year 2 were brilliant at opening their diaphragms and projecting their voices!
Year 2 are loving their art topic, Flower Head! Today, we focused on the shape and form of flowers. We began by looking at a range of flowers and discussing their shape and form before creating our own versions. They were so good that we’ve even added them to our class display!

This morning, year 2 complete Picture News worship where we focused on whether YouTube should have different rules for younger users. We thought about whether the things we watch positively impact us and how the Bible tells us to view things that bring us goodness.

Year 2 completed a practical maths lesson all about ‘choosing coins’. We were given amounts of money to find and we had to select the most appropriate coins. We were challenged to think of more than one way to make the value given to us!
