Y3 are being Agents of Change this half term around poverty proofing! As a result of this we are organising a whole school ‘Bring in a tin to win’ event on 16th-20th June. This is where children in every class can bring in a food donation for the chance to win up to five Ozzie Stars!
For Far Away Friday, Year 3 have looked at the Roman army and thought about the hierarchy. We have them learned about the significant figure of Boudicca and what happened in her life. We created a diary entries as if we were Boudicca and posted them to SeeSaw. We then created Roman shields for battle. This afternoon we looked at army formations and fought in battle, the Gauls against the Romans. 
As part of our RE lesson on Karma, we played snakes and ladders. We discussed how landing in a ladder could be a result of good karma and landing on a snake could be a result of bad karma. We also discussed different examples of good and bad karma.
Year 3, completed their Gold Art task which included using their plans to create a pattern. They measured 1cm tiles using coloured card and stuck them to down to create a mosaic pattern. We were very impressed of what they have created! Well done 
Year 3 had a great time finding out how to get the best value for money when designing a picnic for their families for a day out. We looked at a variety of different deals and worked out how to get the most for our money!
Year 3 had a brilliant afternoon at Arbeia Roman fort! We explored around the fort and worked out what we thought the ruins were and which part of the fort it could be! We also looked in the dorms, where the soldiers slept and went up to the look out 
where they would keep watch for invaders. Wow what a fab afternoon!
This week, in our swimming lesson, Year 3 were focussing on breast stroke. We followed Sharon’s instructions of using our mermaid feet to propel us through the water. We are all becoming more confident in the water as each week passes! 
This week in Picture News, Year 3 discussed the ‘fridge to bridge the world’. We talked about how the creators of this item were Agents of Change around poverty proofing as they have invented a product that doesn’t need electricity to function making it accessible to those in poverty. This also links to yesterday’s worship as Year 3 are thinking about how we can poverty proof to help the local community. We also discussed the qualities that we have that we can use to help others less fortunate than us and linked it to Matthew 5:14-16.
