Today Year 1 have held our own class vote and class award ceremony. The children had various categories and had to vote in secret. We then announced the awards this afternoon! Our winners then chose a prize! 
To round off our RE learning on Judaism year 1 have learnt all about
the Jewish festival of Sukkot. We have then made our own Sukkah’s!

Reception and year one have had a very busy morning looking around the school for litter following on from our summer fayre. Our school is looking amazing. Well done superstars!
Wow what a day year 1 have had learning all about South Africa! We started the day by identifying where South Africa was and discussed key facts about the country. We then learnt all about The Ndebele People and their culture. We then designed and coloured houses in the same style as the Ndebele People. This afternoon we have learnt all about Nelson Mandela and discussed why he is such a significant individual! We wrote fact files, acrostic poems and used adjectives to describe him! What a busy but brilliant day! 🇿🇦⭐️🌎
Year One worked in groups of 3 to create a weather forecast for our topic Weather Experts. One of us narrated, videoed and placed weather symbols on a map of the UK and described the weather in each location. We also discussed further what we might need to wear for the different types of weather.
Reception and year one decided to go on a litter pick in receptions garden to continue our climate change learning.

Year One had a fantastic day keeping fit for Fit For Fun day! We enjoyed all the activities and had so much fun. 
This week for worship we have been learning all about Martin Luther King and racism. On Monday we researched who he was and what impact he had on America. On Tuesday we thought about what our dreams are for the world, it was wonderful to see the children choosing other areas we have focused on such as helping the homeless, picking up litter and more treatments for diseases! We are super courageous advocates in year 1 ️

This afternoon year 1 have been continuing our learning on Famous Inventors. We have designed our own aeroplanes, deciding on where we want our aeroplane to travel, how many passengers it will carry, is it for fun or to help others. We then compared our designs to Leonardo Da Vinci’s design. We then followed instructions to make our own paper aeroplane. We then took them outside and tested them! Super job year 1 ✈️⭐
