This morning year 1 and reception had a visit from Debbie who volunteers for Animal Aid. She taught us all about different animals and how we can look after them properly. We thought about the environment and what we can do to help animals in different habitats. Look at all of our contributions that Debbie has taken from us this morning she is going to distribute our donations to local animals charities! Well done reception and year 1! You are being amazing courageous advocates!
Year 1 have been continuing our learning on the Jewish religion, this week we have been learning about the Shema, an important Jewish prayer. We have created our own Torah scrolls and wrote our own prayers of forgiveness, love and thanks! Well done year 1 📜🙏👏
Unfortunately we were unable to go on our trip this morning but that didn’t stop us from having fun! We worked in teams to follow instructions to make ‘Happy Harry’ and ‘Bald Ben’. We then did some map reading to find numbers, animals and fruit outside.
Wow what a day we have had for the Queen Jubilee celebrations! We absolutely loved having year 1 from Bede Burn with us this morning and completed a range of tasks such as making corgi masks, medals, flags, paper chains and of course Miss Booth added in some writing with an acrostic poem. We then took our pen pals into the nature garden and explored with them. We loved our outdoor picnic at lunchtime and what a brilliant afternoon we have had playing games outside with the rest of the school.

What a brilliant day year 1 had for our Queen Jubilee music day. We took part in sustained listening, discussing the tempo, dynamic and pitch of Rule Britannia and God Save the Queen. We compared both songs discussing what was similar and different and expressed our opinions on both songs. We then joined together with year 2 to learn and perform Rule Britannia. We added actions and flags and sang our hearts out. Well done year 1!

Year 2 collaborated with Year 1 today to learn and perform Rule Britannia. As part of their music learning they also listened to Jerusalem and commented on different musical features.
As part of year 1 and receptions courageous advocacy learning around animals, we had a virtual visit from Kirsten from cats protection! We had such a fun, informative and interactive morning and now feel we are experts about how to care for cats. Following our visit we have written a thank you letter to Kirsten and created our own thank you messages for her. We cannot wait to share our knowledge with the rest of the school in our upcoming joint assembly/worship!
