What a messy and creative day year 1 have had! Today we have been learning all about colour theory. We have experimented with colour mixing, created a colour wheel and learnt the relationships between primary and secondary colours. We then finished the day looking at different pieces of art and discussing the colour choice, the shapes used and materials used to create it. Great job you bunch of artists👩🎨🎨🧑🎨🖌
This afternoon in year 1 we have continued our history unit of childhood. We brought in a special object that links to an important event in our lives. We took part in a circle time to discuss and listen to what our important events were, how long ago these took place and why they were important to us. We heard some amazing explanations this afternoon! Well done

Year 1 had a fantastic time during their science session yesterday. The classroom was buzzing with excitement as the children predicted what they thought might happen to different materials when water was added. Then the real fun began! They used water spray bottles to wet the materials.
In year 1 this half term for our music learning we are focusing on the key composer Mozart. This week we learnt all about different
instruments, we played a musical instrument quiz, labelled instruments and decided how they were played. We then took part in some sustained listening of Mozart’s music we discussed how this piece of music made us feel and expressed our opinions on this genre of music. Well done year 1 🎶🎸🎻🥁🎹⭐️

Today Miss Lauder our teaching student taught her first maths lesson.
We were taught how to count in our 2 times table. We had a dance and
sing with Jack Hartman, recognised missing numbers within a sequence
and then applied our knowledge into a fun practical activity of count
and catch! Super job year 1

Today year 1 went into the nature garden for our English lesson . We
are currently learning all about our own memories and experiences
linked to the story of Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge. Today we
went on on gratitude scavenger hunt, we had to find certain things and
give well structured explanations for why we chose these. What a
brilliant lesson year 1! 
At the weekend Lottie attended North East Cheer’s season 16 awards night where she received a medal and badge for all her hard work last season. Lottie trains two times a week and always trys her very best, we can’t wait to see her in next year’s competitions.
Year 1 were super lucky this morning to take part in a road safety
workshop. Miss Booth and Mrs McIntosh we’re extremely impressed with
year 1s knowledge and understanding and their attitude towards keeping
safe on the roads. 
Wow what a busy day we had in year 1 celebrating Roald Dahl day! Our
day was centred around Fantastic Mr Fox. We wrote character
descriptions, book reviews and learnt about alliteration, we had a go
at writing alliterative names and coming up with silly alliterative
sentences. Across the day we had the opportunity to make Fox masks and
complete a word search! Super job year 1
