Year 1 really enjoyed their creative afternoon as part of their DT topic, Taxi! They started to use paint or collage to represent the chassis of a London black taxi. Some of us started to add windows, lights and other details. We are looking forward to adding our axles and wheels next week!

Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed this mornings debate theme of ‘How are we here?’ When we got back to class we discussed all that we heard and learnt about different beliefs around the big question. After playtime we created artwork based on either God’s creation or The Big Bang. Our creations are wonderful and definitely put a smile on Miss Booth and Mrs Rutherford’s face. Well done year 1 and what a lovely start to this new half term! 🌎🎨🤩

Year 1 have been continuing their art unit of Rain and Sunrays, this week we have explored line and shape using hard and soft pencils.  We’ve then explored textures, feeling a range of materials and explaining how they feel! Great job!

For worship this morning year 1 took part in some mindfulness activities, we enjoyed Body Scanner which focuses on relaxing our mind and body, Bubble Bounce which improves our focus and concentration, Rainbow Breathing which teaches breathing techniques and then we finished off our session with some mindfulness colouring linked to our worship theme of love. Well done  

Yesterday, year 1 had started our art unit of Rain and Sunrays and what an afternoon we’ve had. We have created weather motifs using a range of materials, we then had to use our computing skills to take a photo of our artwork and upload them onto seesaw. We made LOTS of mess but wow what super pieces of transient art! 🌤⛈☀️🌧🖼

Year 1 loved having our parents and carers in school this afternoon for Safer Internet Day. We loved sharing our learning with them and wowing them with our fab internet safety knowledge! We have created top tips, acrostic poems, posters and 5 rules to follow! Great job superstars 

Year 1 are really enjoying their DT topic, Taxi! This afternoon we began to look at attaching freely moving wheels onto an axle using elastic bands. We worked really well in small teams. Well done Year 1!

Wow what a trip year 1 have had to The Word! It was jam packed with so many computing skills, we used green screen filming to become little presenters and created an e-safety video! Keep your eyes peeled for this! We learnt how to take the perfect photograph ensuring it was in focus, used cropping skills and also learnt how to airdrop! Just look at our selfies they’re fantastic 😍. We then used ChatterKid to take photos and create voice labels to give children advice about being online. In the afternoon we used purple mash to practice our typing skills and we absolutely loved becoming actors after lunch were we had to run away from a roaring dinosaur using augmented reality! What a day! 💻🦖⭐

This afternoon year 1 have been continuing our computing learning. We gave examples of how we can find information using different digital devices. We then put this into practice by using our typing skills to google search given items. Well done superstars as this is tricky stuff
