All the festive feels in Year 2 today! Christmas music and Christmas card making
This afternoon, Year 2 got cooking! As part of our DT topic remarkable recipes, we looked at how we can follow a recipe to create our own Winter Vegetable Stew! We used our chopping, peeling and cutting skills and created a super tasty stew…well done Year 2!
On Friday, Year 2 looked at shape in our Maths lesson. We used play dough to count the faces, edges and vertices on 3D shapes, and also to correctly identify each shape. We even looked at challenging our peers to identify shapes using the amount of faces and edges they have!
In Year 2, we enjoyed adding some forward rolls, pencil rolls and cartwheels into our cheerleading routine in PE today. We are looking forward to completing our performance next week and sharing the video with our families on See-Saw.
Year 2 were set a worship challenge this week by Mr Richardson and were asked to make Christingles for our church service. We discussed what each part of the Christingle represents. Don’t they look amazing?

Y2 planned to go to West Park in Jarrow yesterday to observe the local area and think how we can design a map and key for the park. However, due to icy weather and freezing temperatures, we kept the learning rolling in the classroom and used Google Earth to help us design our maps.
The children used a birds eye view of the park, creating a key and map symbols to help plan their maps on whiteboards. The children then transferred their final product onto A3 paper.
We had an amazing, creative morning and we are incredibly proud of their work!
Year 2 are feeling festive after working together on their class Christmas tree.
Y2 had a fantastic time exploring and reflecting on each classes’ prayer space activity. We reflected on areas such as anti-bullying, recycling and animal abuse.
Year 2 took part in an interactive road safety workshop this afternoon. We enjoyed learning how to cross the road safely, how to use the green man and how to use a lollipop person to help us.
Year 2 enjoyed their tennis festival this morning at Temple Park! They practiced skills such as serving, forehand, backhand and volleying in lots of different fun games!
