Y2 planned to go to West Park in Jarrow yesterday to observe the local area and think how we can design a map and key for the park. However, due to icy weather and freezing temperatures, we kept the learning rolling in the classroom and used Google Earth to help us design our maps.
The children used a birds eye view of the park, creating a key and map symbols to help plan their maps on whiteboards. The children then transferred their final product onto A3 paper.
We had an amazing, creative morning and we are incredibly proud of their work!
Year 2 are feeling festive after working together on their class Christmas tree.

What a fantastic COOL afternoon Year 2 had showing our parents and carers our Forest School session linked to our DT topic. In preparation for making our very own vegetable stew, we looked at different ingredients and the difference between raw ingredients and what happens when we cook them.
Then we looked at the different utensils we need to use to prepare our ingredients, and got stuck in perfecting our chopping, peeling and grating skills.
It was brilliant to change our outdoor learning, and Mrs O’Doherty was sooooo impressed with Year 2’s fantastic learning attitude and amazing listening skills, not to mention their brilliant food preparation skills!
