Year 2 have had a fantastic full day working with Mr Robert from Open Zone, last week. They used Scratch Junior and learnt the skills of coding. Then, they used Stikbot to create our own stop motion animations. Super effort Year 2!

Year 2 have spent the afternoon looking at Henry VIII as part of their topic Magnificent Monarchs. We looked at what type of king he was, and looked at significant things that have happened during his reign, discussing if these events had a positive or negative impact.
Year 2 were Agents of Change by going around our nature garden and field to collect all of the rubbish around our school and put it in the bin, where it’s supposed to be. We are preparing ourselves because in the next few weeks we will be collecting rubbish from the beach. #Putitinthebin
Year 2 finished their net games unit in PE by practicing rallies with our partners! We also chatted about all of our sticky knowledge we have learnt!


Year 2 enjoyed their trip to Jarrow Library this morning. The librarian, Catherine, read us 2 stories before we changed our library books.
Year 2 had a very busy STEM day yesterday, making beach huts. First, they worked In pairs to think and plan. Next, they created box frames with wooden dowels before adding wooden panelling to the sides. Then they completed the beach huts by adding an apex roof with cardboard. Finally, they evaluated their finished product and communicated their thoughts via See-Saw. Well done Year 2!
Year 2 are enjoying their fractions learning in maths this week. They have been finding fractions of shapes and numbers. Today, they used counters to support finding 1/4 and 1/3 of numbers!
Year 2 have been focusing on the artist Yayoi Kusama as part of their recent art topic, Flower Head. They were inspired to create 3D artwork in a similar style and are overjoyed with how well they turned out 



This week Year 2 had a super exciting forest school session with their Year 2 friends from Bede Burn. We started off our afternoon exploring volume and capacity, and created our own fruit punch by measuring different fruit juices and combining them together, thinking about millilitres and litres.

This week, Year 2 have been observing the changes to their seeds and discussing why these changes are occurring, using scientific vocabulary.
