Year 2 kicked off their Team Games topic in PE by playing handball.
As part of Year 2’s Courageous Advocacy project, we had a visit from our lovely Rocco’s mam, Joanne. Joanne works for Clean Hub and is a volunteer for the Sea Changers charity.
We enjoyed learning about Joanne’s job and the difference Sea Changers is making across the world. We are looking forward to Joanne joining us next Thursday for our litter pick at South Shields Beach. We hope to see our other parents/carers there to.
Year 2 had a fun filled Aspirations Day afternoon where they learnt BSL and first aid skills, took part in team building activities, learnt about finance and experienced a live gig. Mr Appleby and Mrs Wood were very proud of the children’s attitude and behaviour all day! Superstars
!

Year 2 had the absolute best day for Aspirations Day. They really enjoyed finding out about different careers during their morning session. They were lucky enough to speak to the fire service, find out about equipment they use, try out their hose and sit on their fire engine.
Year 2’s Forest School was unfortunately rained off prior to half term, but we had a fab afternoon all the same! We have been looking at microhabitats in our science topic, and what type of animals live in certain habitats. We thought about what these habitats provide to help animals survive there, and then went on to look at invertebrates and what different categories of invertebrates they are. Year 2 blew Mrs O’Doherty away with their habitat knowledge, well done superstars!!!
Year 2 have begun their new maths topic by reading and writing the time to o’clock and half past. They have enjoyed lots of practical activities using the clocks.
This week, Year 1 and Year 2 enjoyed a joint PE lesson, continuing their orienteering, which they started last week. Children worked in mixed Y1 and Y2 teams to read a map and find various markers around the school grounds.
Mrs B, Miss Randle and Mrs Wood were so impressed with the enthusiasm and motivation of the children and their resilience when they found it tricky to locate a marker. Well done Y1 and Y2!
Year 2 have been Agents of Change by creating posters for around the school so we can inform parents for when Year 2 go to the beach to do our litter pick on the Thursday 13th June. We would love for you to be able to join us!
