Y2/4 had a wonderful time learning about the importance of composting and the impact it can have on the environment. We created our own composts using water bottles, soil, grass, paper and our own fruit and veg peelings!
Year 2 have had a super Rich Experience at the Laing Art Gallery, linked to our art topic – Portraits and Poses.
We explored inside the gallery, using adjectives to locate a piece of art that we thought the adjective described. We then studied the portrait of Isabella and the Pot of Basil, looking at objects relating to the artwork. We finally created our own portraits of ourselves using different media.
Gallery staff commended us on our impeccable behaviour
For worship this morning, Year 2 showed how we could be Agents of Change to help protect the environment. We discussed how we could affect our community by spreading awareness. Well done Year 2!
Year 2 had an amazing time on their park trip! They played on the swings, the monkey bars and the trim trail. They even had a quick game of football too! Well done for all of your hard work Year 2; you totally deserved this reward!
Year 2 were very lucky to have a visit from NatWest Bank. We discussed how we get money and what we can do with money. We then worked in groups to create our own smoothie business. We were given a budget to set up and run our business before discussing the priorities of our spending and saving. It was brilliant!
Year 2 reflected upon how everyone’s brains can be different, linked to this weeks worship challenge set by Year 3. They coloured in brains whilst discussing how dementia affects people’s lives.
Year 2 really enjoyed their visit to Jarrow Focus Library. We returned all of the topic books we loaned, enjoyed a look around the library and listened to 2 stories read by Catherine, the librarian.
Year 2 have had the most amazing maths adventure day, consolidating lots of our learning from across the year.
Y2 headed to South Shields beach on Thursday, in their mission to become agents of change. They are incredibly passionate about protecting the environment so we took part in a litter pick along the sea front.
Thank you to the parents who helped out on our mission to make our local community and environment a safer place to live.
Also, a big thanks to South Tyneside Council who gave us advice and provided us with the equipment needed to make the experience possible.
