Hello Yellow- year 2 loved wearing our bright colours and discussing different emotions we feel on a daily basis!
Year 2 have had a busy week. Here is just some of the things we have been up to. On Tuesday afternoon we used clay to make our own Commonwealth Medals in DT. We will be painting them next week. On Wednesday morning we went on a spelling scavenger hunt in English, looking at our Common Exception words. On Thursday afternoon we continued with our new Mastering Number in maths.
Yesterday, Year 2 had their Road Safety workshop with Kim. We put into practise our Green Cross Code.
On Wednesday morning Year 2 were learning about adjectives to support their learning with character descriptions. Children had to rely on their hands as they described what was in the box. Mrs Wood was impressed with the vocabulary being developed.
On Friday Year 2 were learning about Climate Change and how we can make a difference. We had an amazing discussion around what climate change is and we used this an inspiration to write to our local MP Kate Osborne. Staff were impressed with everyone’s ideas and vocabulary.
On Thursday afternoon Year 2 were learning about the basic needs for survival in science. Children went on a hunt for different objects and then sorted them into wants and needs.
Sophie has been busy during the holidays. She has made her own fish in a bottle! Well done Sophie!
Year 2 Sports Day- this afternoon Year 2 loved doing their own Sports Day. Children were in teams and took part in different activities; javelin, egg and spoon race, relays and an obstacle race.
Year 2 have been getting creative. As part of their learning about the world’s oceans , children created their own Great Barrier Reef inspired models. Children painted their own sea backgrounds, used clay to make different sea creatures and then created their own coral reefs. Staff loved children’s engagement, patience and creativity!
